Sunbeam, Gem, Ruby, Wilberforce, I could go on. The thing is: People named these when they existed, which was in the 1800s. Someone saw a steam loco, and went: "You look like a Sunbeam."

That's so sweet.
When I think about it, there's something that's so creature-y about locomotives, whether they're steam, diesel or electric.
The many classifications of locomotives also adds to this, because they're like a species, in a weird way.
