“WALLS OF CHANGE”

New York artist Logan Hicks uses many layers of intricate stencils to portray the urban landscape, often capturing dramatically lit nocturnal scenes. @FloridaDailyPost says “the eerie photorealistic quality makes film noir of them, with secrets hiding under every rain slicked street lamp.” For the Wynwood Walls 2015 theme “Walls of Change”, Hicks helped break in the new Wynwood Garden expansion with this nighttime scene about finding love in the chaos of the city, set against the walls of New York City at Broadway and W 32nd. Hicks says the stencils for this complicated 40’ piece needed to be cut in advance and as he worked through the seven layers required he remembers having new stencils overnighted to him from his New York studio just as he finished work on the previous layer.  @loganhicksny  @wynwoodwallsofficial

NUART 2009

Originally a screen printer in Baltimore, Logan Hicks moved to New York more than a decade ago to focus on his fine art, and on the street he has become widely respected for his layered stencils exploring the dynamics of the urban environment. @Wdwlls attributes Hicks’ notoriety to his “ability to capture the sometimes mundane cycle of city life in a haunting, yet refined way.” In Stavanger, Norway in 2009 for the long running @NuartFestival, held annually since 2001, Hicks showed a little different side of himself with this thought-provoking composition on the south side of the @ArkadenTorgterrassen shopping mall. Thankfully the mural was saved from falling victim to mall refurbishment the following year through quick action by Nuart organizers and the response of the community.  @loganhicksny
