Their first meeting wasn't as most people would have expected it to be.
The silence had grown heavy between the two, but neither would budge. He remained passive, the only sign of his hesitance the fire that was burning in his eyes as they trained in on the woman standing across from him. He wondered briefly why he found himself being intimidated by the woman, he was a god! No mortal girl brought him any discomfort, but this woman seemed to be doing a decent job of unsettling his stomach. He took her in once more before the realization dawned on him; it was her eyes.
Her eyes were like a dark hunger that couldn't be satiated, always looking for more knowledge to feed on and retain. She was an intellectual, something that he had found rare on this pathetic realm of Midgard. But this girl, this 'Amelia Stark' as she had introduced herself, had a clear sheen of intelligence reflecting back at him in the deep pools. He could see confidence, ease, and an lack of mercy. It was strange to see, considering what he knew of her. The daughter of the Beast and the Tin Can. That in itself put him on edge; the daughter of two of his enemies approaching him with a job offer. A job offer of all things, shouldn't she be reporting him to SHIELD or attempting to bring him down herself? At the very least, running off to her daddies?
But no, she stood there, staring at him with a quirked brow as she waited for a response. Finally, he broke the silence. "I don't trust you."
"You shouldn't." Was her immediately reply, a forced smile on her face. He could see that it wasn't genuine, it didn't reach her eyes. The entire time he was contemplating, she was as well. Her eyes were calculating and sharp, taking in the man to see just how much of a threat he was. He was a god, and a powerful one at that, she knew. But she was also confident in the fact that she had captured his attention, and she would be lying if she said she wasn't intimidated by his power.
"However, this situation is beneficial to us both." The god raised a brow and waited for her to continue. She gave a small smile, pleased. "SHIELD will leave you alone. If you're an employee of mine, I'll assure them that you're quite the changed man." She paced to the side a bit, settling herself down in a chair and taking her time to cross her legs lazily, one hand hanging idly over the back of the seat.
"You see, Loki. I need a man like you. My job has some sensitivities and I need someone skilled enough to handle them. You fit that description. More so, you're magic fits that description."
"Oh? And what would my job entail, Stark?" His tone was even, level with her own coolly brisk one.
"Simple. Your magic could assist in two different fields. My medical field and my security team. I need a hand in life support as well as restraints; your magic could momentarily extend a patients life to see if my tests are successful and it can also keep the patient restrained to create minimal struggle." She paused a moment. "All patients are willing, I assure you. But some tend to go into a frenzy when the formula hits their cells. Hell, I'm sure your magic could also be used to locate prime specimen for my tests."
"And security. Oh, I think you'd enjoy security." She leaned forward a moment, her lips twitching. "I need power. You have power. You could protect my assets while using your magic in whatever way you desire. I tend to... look the other way when it comes to how my security deals with threats. I tell them who is a threat, they take care of it how they please. I'm sure you'll find it freeing to use your magic in whatever manner you please, so long as it is used on the appropriate target."
There was a long moment of silence as Loki took everything in. This Amelia Stark was much darker than her parentage would lead him to believe. She was a vindictive little thing, but he still has his reservations.
"And if I say no?" He inquired. She leaned back again, giving a small shrug.
"Then we both walk away from this and I won't approach you again. You'll be safe from Stark Medical and my SS; but I can't promise anything about SHIELD. If you're not an asset of mine, I can't protect you." She leaned forward. "And I can't protect those around you." Her tone was firm and took an edge of seriousness that he didn't expect. Glancing up at her, he saw something in her eyes, something genuine. And he stared for a moment.
"I accept your offer." She gave a smile of victory, standing up with ease before reaching down and picking up her bag.
"Wonderful. The details will be mailed to you. I look forward to working with you, Loki."
