I'm scared to talk to my parents. My dad doesn't, believe anything I say ever. It's known I have anxiety but he won't take me to the doctor to be heckled out for anything else like depression because he just wants to force me to get over it. I don't want to let my mum down. I don't want to tell her and hurt her feelings because of how I feel. I'm scared.
Dean: Geez, that is rough with your dad. But you shouldn’t be afraid to talk about how you feel. If you are struggling you should reach out to those who can help you. If your dad isn’t willing to step up and respect that you are struggling, you should tell your mom.
Sam: You need to love yourself first before worrying about letting others down. If you have depression and anxiety, you need to address those. Your mom may be more understanding than your dad and she may be more willing to get you the help you need. You can’t control everything that is going on with your mind. Mental illness isn’t something we choose to have, but seeking help is really important. I know you are scared, but how does that saying go? Sometimes all you need is 20 seconds of insane courage and something great will come of it. Let us know how things are going and if you have talked to them. We love you and are proud of you for even being willing to talk to us about what’s going on.
