Happy Mermay everyone!

I decided to do Mermay this year, but with my mer OCs from a story I'm working on.

Mermay day 1

Asterius

Bit more about him under the cut for people who are curious

Asterius is the first prince of the mer empire. He also goes by Aster.

As a young mer, Asterius used to spend a lot of time on beaches stargazing at night, especially in areas with bioluminescent phytoplankton, which is how he got his colouration.

He's currently the heir to the throne, and was selected due to his affinity for magic at the time. However, due to circumstances, his magic is currently nowhere near as powerful as it was when he was younger. Other than a few select individuals, noone else is currently aware of this, least of all the Empress.

While Aster does still carry out his duties as crown prince, he gets a lot more exhausted than usual, and is constantly overworked. Even so, he tries his best to carry out his role as heir, and to set a good example for his younger brothers.

Nori

Fun fact, all of the merprinces designs were inspired by the merprincesses first experience on the surface from the original Little Mermaid.

Nori's based of a Leafy Sea Dragon.

Mermay day 2 (I'm posting every other day):

Lauro

He's the second prince of the mer empire, and while his real name is Loretto, he prefers the shorter nickname of Lauro. He's extremely friendly and outgoing, and will happily chat with any mer he meeta. However, he prefers spending most of his time studying the fish near the reef (think an ornithologist, but for fish)

He got his colouration from the Royal Gramma.

(I don't really have much else to say about him since he's not that important to the overall story 😅)
