Utterly relieving (and relaxing) was the two-3 hour visit to the grandparents' 5-10 minutes away just then. 15+ with off-work traffic.
Although I can get lost a couple times in the details he describes in taiwanese, they break it down, and I always enjoy their stories of when we & they were younger. Sometimes it's the same stories, sometimes, there's a new bit of the puzzle. Today was a lot of new bits.
Pretty cool when you can think back, put reasonings to memories, and imagine how they were like years and years before. Even if a few details are exaggerated. You rarely get a story from anyone where they're not. And though they have somewhat of a bad rap with the exaggerated details/things that shouldn't have been said, who can blame them? It's hard to get someone to listen when you're at that age and don't have a lively, dramatic social life to interest those around you with.
As far as I'm concerned, If Gma can account for it too and doesn't call Gpa out for being a xiao e, xiaodingdang, or having go le luan gong, then it's considerably legit. Lolol. I laugh, but really. She doesn't hesitate to call him out and laugh with a "ho hoo.. there you go again!" and she looks super adorable while doing it. You can then hear him try to shrug it off with a "HMM?" or "pff" (like a lip flubb, idk) and try to call her out on something else. It's a hilarious, endless cycle.
Best three detail topics of today though: their first reactions to each other when they got married/how he had to 'fight off' her older bros and looked like a liu mang walking in, shoulders swinging; his story of the brooch and equivalent of the cia (lolol gotta look that up later); and his last talks/memories with his younger brother. Seeing him smile and chuckle to himself that he almost forgot about a few of those details makes me happy.
It's always good to hear another's story.
