The Weaver's Lair
I wrote a little poem about @amarthiels' character Lomëanis. She's scary and skilled and beautiful and I love her very much <3 It's meant to exist in-world as a work composed by a bard of the Woodmen of Mirkwood. They have many tales and rumours about her...
In Taur-nu-Fuin, there is a place They call the Weaver's Lair And if you value life and limb You'll never venture there.
There dwells a subtle weaveress With hands as pale as milk, With hair as dark as moonless night And robes of shimmering silk.
Her countenance is delicate As twilight blossoms flow'ring But oh! her eyes are pitiless, Remote and light-devouring.
With dextrous hand and baleful art She spins a web of dread And many folk to bitter ends Her sorcery has led.
Her handmaids walk on countless legs And see with countless eyes, Their cunning nets ensnaring men As easily as flies.
Perhaps the weaveress herself Is of that spider-kind, For once you're caught in her domain No mercy you will find.
So if you see a silver thread Out in the woods, beware! It leads into an early grave, Into the Weaver's Lair.
