More pictures from ECCC wherein I make the same expression. I’m a druid and James (@ lomomol ) is a barbarian. Both costumes are original designs. It only now occures to me that we didn’t take any pcitures from the back of my costume; there’s a giant white peony/red quince arrangement between the antlers on my back. Trust me, it looks beautiful.
It’s been nice continually improving on these costumes. Next year I think i’ll make a prop and James wants to work on getting a shirt lol.
"If we were dating..."...we'd probably spend way too much money dress shopping together.
sounds perfect tbh

UGH I WANNA GO SEE THAT SO BAD Y U NO INVITE ME?!
GO SEE IT IT'S REALLY GOOD
and because Nathan and I have been movie buddies for the last few weeks and so long as I have someone to watch movies with, it doesn't occur to me to invite anyone else, oops
That was a good rant. It sort of made me pretty acutely aware of a couple points of my own body image and I appreciate that. I often will end up using language or language like that to refer to parts of me that I specifically don't like, and a lot of that has to do with my direct relations. Both of my brothers are pretty toned. (and one is just fucking RIPPED <.<) and that has often led to me being called out by them or by my mother about my belly, or weight, which is pretty frustrating. (cont)
(cont) and while they don't mean it even in bad ways, they call me out and deeeeef shame me more than I am comfortable with. Which in turn has affected how I interact with people. SO. Thank you for giving me this to think about, and to be a bit more aware of. ugh I dunno really what I'm trying to say. basically venting feelings because you gave me feelings. :p
Yeah no, a lot of times when people talk that way, it's something they have picked up from their family. Either it's through imitation (they hear older siblings/parents talk that way about their selves, so they see that as how they should express those feelings) or being told those things about their body. And like you said, they probably don't mean for it to potentially hurt you the way it might. That's sort of a whole other side of the coin: people saying things about your body and not meaning it to be as bad as it feels.
Also it would be especially hard when it's people around you who can be easily compared to you, aka siblings. Like I said to someone else earlier, I luckily do not have that issue in my family. I only have my brother who is tall and thin, but he's a boy and I'm a girl and it's easier to not compare on that level. But I've felt like I couldn't measure up to my older cousin for a long, long time so I sort of get it.
So basically what I'm saying is that it's totally understandable that you talk that way about your body. As much as I wish people didn't talk badly about their bodies at all, the fact is that it's so easy, especially if that's how you learn to talk about it.
But unfortunately the way we talk about our bodies isn't in a bubble. Other people hear it, and just like we learned it from other people, they learn it from us, or they support their way of talking to their self based on us. And if the way we talk is using characteristics as ways of describing feeling unattractive, that's heard and learned and felt by anyone who overhears it.
So yeah. In summary, I can totally see where you are coming from, and I know why a lot of people talk that way about their selves, but it is something that I think more people need to think about, especially in terms of the impact they have on the people who overhear the way they talk about their selves
(also you are very attractive and handsome and a hottie and haters can exit stage right because your body is very nice and also you are a lovely human being and deserve only nice things)
Got tagged by the lovely Brennerdee again and who am I to say no? So here's her questions:
1. What’s the Best-Worst movie you’ve ever seen? (and I mean your favorite bad movie)
Species!! It used to be on instant play on netflix (currently is not though. :c ) and it a goofy scifi movie from the mid-90s. It's great. It was probably extra great watching it with my friend, since we named all the characters (action-man, scientist-lady, etc.), and the sequel was also ridiculous. Have yet to see the third and apparently fourth (?????) one. But yeah. Hilariously bad but great.
2. If you were going to travel around the world and see every place you’ve ever wanted to see, where would you start?
I guess wherever was closest to me, since if I'm going around the whole world for all the things I want, might as well make my way around the world from where I am. So it depends. Probably head to Middle and South America first (exactly where isn't clear yet since whenever I travel to an area, I always research it to decide exactly where, and I haven't done that for south america yet so I only have vague ideas like Mexico City, Rio, Buenos Aires, etc.).
3. What’s your favorite accent(s)?
There are so many good ones though ugh. I do like the typical ones (some of the various british accents, australian, and Kiwi is super cute wowow), but there are some other ones that are really cool like South African, Ethiopean, Dutch, Danish.... I just... most accents are cool
4. What are 5 songs you recommend people listen to?
Body Love by Mary Lambert (as well as She Keeps Me Warm), Bloody Shirt by To Kill a King (Bastille remix especially oh man), Dandelions by Five Iron Frenzy, RADIOSPECTRUM which is a mashup of Radioactive by Marina and the Diamonds and Spectrum by Florence and the Machine, annnnd Everything is Awesome. c:
5. Flowers or trees?
Trees
6. What’s a book you are reading/want to start reading?
I just finished the She-Hulk complete collection vol. 1 which was really excellent (my only complaints being wardrobe and the one dude who obviously feels friendzoned by her and meh), and I have Christopher Moore's The Serpent of Venice to read next.
7. What do you do to help yourself fall asleep?
Play through stories in my head. Often time fanfic ideas, stuff like that.
8. Are there any shows your parents wouldn’t let you watch when you were young? Why or why not?
Not that I can think of off the top of my head. Actually, I think once when I was very young there was a mini-series about Anne Frank that my mom watched and she did not let my brother and I watch it with her, especially near the end because it got pretty gritty (as I'm sure we can all imagine) and I would have been so young I probably would not have been able to deal with it. Also I was hella emotional as a child so yeah. But other than that, no. My mom pretty much let me watch whatever shows she watched (i.e. Voyager, Charmed, Buffy, etc.)
9. Do you have a lot of sentimental items or do you prefer to get rid of them and stay clutter free?
I do have several around at any given time, but not many that last more than a decade. Every time I go through my stuff to downsize (like when I move) I usually toss a few as time has passed and the sentimentality has lessened.
10. Favorite combination of colors?
Blue and orange!
Alright, and now some questions for anyone who wants to do them/is tagged!
Do you have a lot, a few, or no posters/pictures/prints up on your walls? Why do you like it that way?
What movie could you watch over and over again and never get tired of?
How good are you with putting physical things together? example: IKEA furniture, following lego instructions, etc.
What are the top five places you want to travel to?
What's a movie that you feel is generally under-appreciated?
Did you do a lot of drawing growing up, and if so do you still draw? Or has the habit dropped off?
Describe your favorite outfit you have!
Is there someone in day-to-day life who isn't a friend or anything, but just a part of your day -- a certain barista, small store owner, coworker, etc. -- who you look forward to seeing just to chat or just because you feel warmly towards them? (not a crush or anything)
Favorite superhero?
If you have the option to choose, do you prefer to listen to music that's playing through a speaker, or through headphones?
(tagging lomomol, whyohwhykai, imatwerkit, semianonymity, eddiescouch, ravenclawssaywhat, and anyone else who would like to! Tag me if you do it so I can read your answers!!)

WAIT HOLD ON FOUR WAY KISS AU IS RELEVANT TO MY INTERESTS EXPLAIN YOURSELF
I don't know that it's actually quite as sexy as you think it is. Sometimes the Four Way Kiss AU can be sexy but sometimes not.
I don't really want to give away where we came up with the idea (that's Nathan's story to tell, not mine) but the basic concept is that you have an AU where four characters are in a place at the same time, and one of them has to ask, "So, uh, is this where we fourway kiss?" or something along those lines, preferably where it's totally not appropriate and is instead hilarious
The example that birthed it as an AU at all is during the scene where Hank, Eric, Charles, and good ol' Wolverine are in that plane together, I joked to nathan about fourway kiss, and the AU we ultimately came up with is that in an AU, they get hella high up there, and Hank, hella high, is like, "whoa, we should four way kiss" or something. And then they did. So that one ends kinda sexy.
But then other examples include:
Captain America 2 Fourway Kiss AU: Bucky finally feels decides to meet up with the others, and Natasha is high strung about it because duh this guy tried to kill her and others, Steve is like full of so many anxiety butterflies because this is his frIEND!!!!! And of course Bucky is like uhhhhhHHHHHH. Sam is just about the only one who is being relatively chill about it, if not in part because he's learned how to be the chill anchor when other people are flipping shit.
So when they all meet, there's definitely awkward silence at some point, and Sam laughs and says "So what, is this the point where we fourway kiss?" And that's enough to bring all the tension way down and also it's hilarious
Dredd Fourway Kiss AU: Anderson and Dredd are booking a couple of perps. At least one of the perps is way high on something. So during the arrest, at some point his head lulls back and he looks Dredd straight in the eye, glances at Anderson who is handcuffing his pal, and then back at Dredd and says, "we gonna fourway kiss?"
Anderson just about fucking dies from laughter while Dredd makes a face.
And that becomes Anderson's favorite joke for a solid six months. Any time she's working with Dredd and there are other people around, she'll lean over and whisper "we gonna fourway kiss?" or mouth it from across the room, etc., and it's beautiful. Eventually she moves on to other things, but for the rest of their lives, every now and again, she'll pull it out again because it is definitely in the top ten funniest things in the world to her.
And that is the Fourway Kiss AU. Apply it to all your fandoms.
