# 8 - First Kiss
"So?" Zatanna replied, her voice louder than she intended it to be. Dick was acting as though it was a crime for the magician to entertain a male fan after a show. He’d walked in, scowl on his face, like she’d called him out during her act. His glare had forced the fan to leave, prompting the argument that Zatanna felt was going on entirely too long.
Dick thought his vagueness was helpful. He thought that skirting around the issue would keep her from realizing the truth. In reality, his refusal to speak spoke volumes. “Dick, there’s no need to be jealous.”
Her friend scoffed, as if it was the most ludicrous idea in the history of ludicrous ideas. “Look, nothing was going to happen with that guy, and if it did? That’s none of your business. You can’t get mad at me.” Zatanna huffed and threw her arms out to the side. “We are not together!” There it was, the reality of their situation. She’d wanted him, for years she’d wanted him, yet they’d always been pulled in opposite directions. There were times when Zatanna felt that Dick wanted her too, but she never had the nerve to ask.
She was going to speak, but Dick’s lips were on her own. Zee sighed against his mouth, body relaxing. All of the tension that had built up during their fight was relieved. The woman eliminated the gap between them, eager to feel what she’d wanted to for so, so long.
