The redhead had hold of Ichigo’s shirt, gripping it firmly as he stared him down nose to nose. The comment threw him off for a second, him blinking a few times to prosses it. A smirk then forming over his lips.

“And what if I did? What would you do then?”

Renji taunted. It would be interesting to see how far he could push his luck and take this argument into a whole different direction.

A journey would typically have its bumps and detours, much like travel companions would have their fair share of disagreements. But what of companions who were so mulish and averse to cooperating, even when it’s for their own benefit? Honestly, why did he even bother? He was tired of being the only one to actually try here. If Grimmjow insisted on acting like a child throwing a tantrum, so be it...

But it wasn’t long until he began feeling an odd sense of dread. That familiar spiritual energy ─ dwindling. Hakkai couldn’t ignore it even if he wanted to.

“...” He’d blame this alleged curse. If it wasn’t for it binding him to that arrancar, he’d be free of doubts right now. Of guilt...

His sleeve being tugged at pulled him from his thoughts as he looked down at Hakuryuu, the little dragon giving him a look that got the brunet chuckling. “I know, I know. I’m being childish myself, aren’t I?” He still had ways to go on his road to atonement, it seems.

And so they drove out to the forest, with him not even needing to follow Grimmjow’s spiritual energy to find him, what with all that blood. Upon arriving at his side, however, he was stunned. This was the first time he’d seen the other in that form. Not to mention his condition... What could he have been fighting against? And as for why he’s here?

“Force of habit, you could call it,” Hakkai responded, words seemingly light yet his tone and demeanor displayed urgency. A hand hovered over Grimmjow’s body to channel his healing chi - a soft green glow, warm and alleviating. He searched for any severe wounds that would require immediate attention, though couldn’t quite do so with the tail in the way.

Nero had gone off on his own to explore the land of surface dwellers. He’d been fascinated with humans ever since his uncle, Prince Dante returned with necklaces and other odd trinkets that came from mortal’s ships. When the merman finally reached the surface, he took everything in excitedly and swam closer to shore, careful not to be seen by anyone. “There’e something you don’t see every day.” He murmured, watching land dwellers get cozy around a bonfire. What were those flickering red and orange lights? “Must be some form of human trickery. I’d better keep my distance.” He was about to leave when the tide carried him to shore.
