long text message #4
I’ve enjoyed capturing the spirit of youth, the “coming of age” story. The naive nature of being "young". I don’t think this is what I want to capture anymore. My nostalgia for this stage in life has passed although I still hold onto it in my heart.
What I want to capture is the phase somewhat after. Where we’re not old, but not young. Where we’re learning but also teaching. Years after the first heartbreak but in the middle of the second or the third. It’s the juggling of feelings and words and actions and all their truths and consequences. Where we come to terms with insecurities and find confidence. Where we sacrifice friends for love. Love for peace. Make peace with friends. When we figure out, that we’re always just figuring it out. Somewhat after and somewhere in between. That’s what I want to capture I think. That's where I'm at right now. Nothing is more important to me now than right now.

Texting is meant to be convenient or perhaps a stealthy means of communication. Long messages are neither convenient or stealthy. Additionally, they are impossible to respond to in a satisfying fashion. If it takes more than one text box; call, write an email or send a letter.

I was going to send the dude I like a long message telling him how I felt...my phone cut off as soon as I was about to press send. Maybe that was a good thing
