Went way west of the #theodorerooseveltnationalpark to the #petrifiedforest our car is parked at the reddish spot 1/3 down looks like a road. We hiked about 4-5 miles to see these up a butte across the top and then down the back side. Slow going on the Chinese Elm. 🤗Lots of fine detail taking a lot longer than I thought .To give you an idea of my process, so far I have used layers 9H,6H,2H,F,HB,2B,3B and 4B. I probably will use 5 or six more grades progressively getting darker. Then I will go back and put in the really black parts with charcoal. This won’t be many places but the black is what gives the depth.
