He seems to think on that for a while. Really ponders it. On the surface it sounds like good advice, he guesses, just - maybe for everybody who isn’t him. You start asking for favors and folks take you in as some kind of charity case, something to pity. Not strong in the slightest.
“Sometimes, I suppose,” he admits finally, and it’s clearly done with great reluctance because immediately afterwards he draws himself up again. “But other times it means you don’t need no help in the first place, and that certainly applies to crickets! Why, we don’t even feel pain!”
It’s a lie. But humans believe it, though perhaps it stems from a lack of empathy towards insects rather than any sort of science, and it contributes quite flatteringly to Jiminy’s image if he allows everybody else to continue doing so as well. You see this exoskeleton? Indestructible.
