The gangs
All the main players in this long, complex game.
The Valmers
Currently managed, much to his father’s annoyance, by Jimmy Valmer. Previously shared with Timmy, the main business they hold is of liquor. Specifically, supply and distribution. They gather and go over all the breweries and so called breweries of the time, and filter through the good brands to assure customers and speakeasies get the best of the best, without going blind. Jimmy inherited the gang from his father Ryan, which before the prohibition dealt in manpower and protection.
Jimmy is a headstrong, confident and charismatic leader with an eye and mouth for people and social circles. However, his hand is a little too loose when it comes to the practical business, number management and proper planning of the very dangerous jobs required to gain the liquor in the first place. It’s what Timmy excelled at, and the main thing he provided in the gang. When the business begins to falter, he grows into more of a loose canon. However, Jimmy is still the main source for good liquor for all the other open speakeasies. If they have his badge of approval, usually with a higher price, the buyers knows what they’re getting is good.
The gang is on decent terms with the rest, and doesn’t have many enemies. Jimmy is particularly close with Loogie from childhood, and the Italian has held up Jimmy on particularly tough days a good number of times. Their relationship brotherly in nature, Loogie being of the few pillars Jimmy has left.
The gang includes Tweek as the head accountant and closest friend and consultant to Jimmy, later on in the story Craig joins in as well. Their front is Tweak Bros coffee as detailed in this post.
Timmy, “The Doctor’s” gang
After the breakup, Timmy begins his own gang with many people who defected with him from Jimmy’s manpower. He’s a direct competitor, dealing in the same business of distribution of liquor. Though he also has his own brewery, which he supplies. His office and central point of operation presenting as a doctor’s office solidified a nickname he’d already held from his calculative nature when working with Valmer. Now, the nickname alone can be uttered around Jimmy, as Timmy’s name hurts too much to hear.
He doesn’t have a speakeasy of his own, and only works as a supplier for the girls and the Marshes. Timmy’s on particularly good terms with the girls, bonding over hating men together, and often comes to bartend in their casino as a way to take a breath from the usual work. So much so, that the girls have began to only take his supplies over Jimmy’s.
His gang also includes Kyle Schwartz as his accountant. They work closely as they must, but Timmy does feel the difference from the much tighter connection he had with Tweek. He gets along well with Schwartz, but it’s not the same.
Nathan’s gang
Everyone needs dirty workers, everyone needs good suppliers and the people to move product about of any kind you need. While gangs do have their own folk for the jobs, nobody knows the substance field like Nathan and his men, especially during a time like this. Nathan works smuggling and manpower in the field, as well as vehicles and acquiring of said vehicles. With Mimsy as his right hand second in command, though it’s clear the guy wouldn’t be there if Nathan didn’t enjoy belittling and abusing him for every lay thing. Which comes to bite Nathan in the ass when Timmy pulls a Trump card on the road back to freedom with the “totally dead” Jimmy.
His parents came from dirty money, and he simply inherited the position, much to the annoyance of both of his parents, but like Jimmy, he was stubborn as a mule in proving himself worthy and making a buck on the job.
Besides, especially at the time, Down’s syndrome meant everyone and their mother underestimate him and his abilities. Which he abuses time and time again, garnering greater infamy and a clearer name as the right person to turn to if you want a dealer next to the door of your speakeasy.
The Marshes and The Girls
One of the older names in the books, the Marshes have been in business about as long as the Valmers. Coming from the world of manpower in the earlier years, as well as the vast and rich world of gambling, formerly held by Randall Marsh, it’s now managed by his son Stan, on paper at least, in practice Eric Cartman is the last and first word of every shot taken.
The Girls, started and handled by the unwavering, iron-willed Wendy Testaburger are also in protection mostly for one another and other women, particularly those with problems with their boyfriends and husbands from any direction. You needed a safe heaven or a disposal, you know who to turn to. They’re also the managers of the best brothels around, backed by Barbara “Bebe” Stevens, handling and caring for the girls and giving them a better life than any other pimp could.
You will find their dancers in every other speakeasy, and their casino is the closest thing to a neutral zone among all the different gangs. The boys like to fight over every little thing, but the girls have none of it and hold zero discrimination. Anyone who spills blood gets the boot, period full stop.
The two gangs are on very close ties at the moment, as during the story after the breakup between the Valmers and Doctor’s gang a semi-arranged semi-power plan semi-actually loving marriage is celebrated between Wendy and Stan. Allows Stan to be even less hands-on and enjoy his time as a trophy husband and calming agent for Wendy who hasn’t grown any less stressed, but a little more confident about overpowering Cartman and taking all she now rightfully owns, Stan’s property.
The Gennas
The truly oldest family of crime in the area, the Gennas are the only true fully Italian immigrants in this storyline. The family having lived in the country for only a few years before having their three children, the third of which proving the most likely candidate to inherit the power and fortune, Luigi, nicknamed Loogie by Jimmy’s stutter and the friendly if mean nature of the rest of the boys.
He works in the shadows as all others, managing the business of money, manpower and protection behind the face of his family’s restaurant. He isn’t too prominent in all the main happenings going on, but he’s always there when enough of other gang members are around, his ears hear everything, and he’s so far proven the only one to truly scare the pants off of Cartman, thanks to some personal history with his most stoic and irrefutably ruthless Trent Boyett, once he was finally released from prison as is practically held on a chain collar by the aforementioned Boss.
Honorable mention: Leopold “Butters” Stotch’s business
In a world of people working with dirty money and dark materials and fields, you need something to lighten it all up. A candy shop in a tactically central spot among the turfs of the many gangs holds a shared point of money laundering, disguised, though fully functional as, a sweets and candies store. Managed by Butters with a wide smile, who genuinely enjoys the place and loves working with the kids who pass by the shop every morning before school, return during lunch break, and at other points in the day skipping school or in the afternoon.
The spot being a homing point of all the mafiosos in the area also means the children there have likely met every one of the bosses managing the big cartels. All but the cranky Cartman enjoy the place, and Jimmy in particular is a regular there who likes the breath of fresh air the place offers with the charm of an impossible neutral zone without the chaos of the casino.
The shop is just across the street from a building with a deep, deep basement however. A basement where Butters had actually begun his original and still up and running operation, of torture and interrogation. Often, usually, coming together hand in hand. He’s worked with just about every gangster who wanted to show someone a piece of their worth, or get information they were looking for and couldn’t extract alone. Butters is keeping the secrets of bosses and mobster plenty, all safe behind the many locks of the place and his very secure mind.
He sometimes works with Josh Meyers, particularly on contracts with Loogie. An even more creepy and oddly artistic fella in his cruelty that Trent met in prison and offered to move in with him once they were bailed out.
I ship loogie from tooth fairy tats 2000s and herbert pocket, cosette,Christophe, pip and estella but mostly estella and herbert also loogie looks like he likes the outsiders 😼
