It does no one any good to look backward for too long and forget that the future lies ahead.

Where we begin...
This past weekend I went to D.C. to Visit my mom. I rode with friends and clients that were going that way anyway, so I went along for the ride. I had a blast with my friends listening to bad jokes and eating candy on the 4 hours drive. Once I got into D.C. I met a friend for drinks and then surprised my mom with a hug and some gifts. She was so happy to see me!
The next morning I got up and went to swim in the pool that was my very first job ever. I walked in and it was the same place it was when I quit. Perhaps somethings were new and some other things were freshly painted but it was the building I remembered. I considered the building to be home the years I worked there. It's where my friends were, its where my money was, it's where my life was... I was very proud of being a lifeguard at 15. I was excited to have a job and I did it with all my heart and energy. I was proud when I became a pool operator and when I started teaching other life guards. I was proud of teaching water aerobics, and Pilates there. Just a lifetime worth of stuff started in that building. I walked out after spending time with my first boss ever. I had told her and the staff that were in the room that she was the best boss I had ever had and I meant it. I sat down outside and did my Facebook live thinking about how far I had come since the day I got that job. It's just amazing to me how everything in my life today is because of that building. I have come so far since I was 15 years old. Since I am with myself every single day of my life, I guess I hadn't really realized it till that moment.
To get a life we want, we must be clear about where we want to go and who we want to become. A great way to get present to the possibilities that lay ahead of us is to really look at how far we have come already. Look backward and just look at where he journey has brought you so far. Take this opportunity to look backward just for a moment to see how you created yourself to this minute in time. When you were 10 years old, how in the world would you have guessed you would be here. It all makes sense in hindsight. So how can you possibly know where you'll be in 10 years from now.
I guess we just have to trust the process and go for it. Here goes...
You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.
Steve Jobs
To look backward for a while is to refresh the eye, to restore it, and to render it the more fit for its prime function of looking forward.
