        they don’t want to have to fight to survive. there’s a thrill that comes with it, yes, a surge of power through their circuits when they hear a bone snap or a man scream---but if there were an easier life, sierra would take it. for themself, for their siblings. it would be better if they could just be allowed to get on with their life --- and who the fuck has to beg to exist?

        there is a reason they want to kill every last human. they weren’t built this way; it’s been learnt, from the way humans have treated them.

   he couldn’t be happier about it in all honesty, but that isn’t exactly a secret. teddy has been gone a long time ( but not as long as he thinks ) and is happy to spend as much time with her as she’ll let him. even if he isn’t worthy of her yet, even if he has some miles to go before he can be a man deserving of dolores abernathy… teddy misses her every second they’re apart, and is willing to be a little selfish.

   lightly, easily, teasingly, ‘ can’t imagine your dad’ll be too happy if he realises you’re out this late with me. ’

“Well I suppose I could take my sleepless self on home all by my lonesome,” she teases in return, hands on her hips as she grins at him. “But I did come all this way to see if you had as much trouble sleepin’ as I did.”

Dolores doesn’t feel as guilty as she probably should about stealing away to go and find Teddy. Once she knew that he was back, she couldn’t stay away--she didn’t want to. True, she really hadn’t been able to sleep, but it was more due to the excitement of Teddy’s return, rather than the nightmares that sometimes kept her awake. She wasn’t at all surprised when she’d found herself climbing out her bedroom window to go see him.

She laughs a little at Teddy’s remark about her very protective father. “What my daddy doesn’t know ain’t gonna hurt him.” She grins. “And, I missed you too much to stay away.”

       “ hm, no, no, no. this won’t do. ”  he’s spent most of the night picking at the littlest things on teddy.  “ we’ve got an important event tonight, you can’t go out like this. ”  it’s a bit... disconcerting the way percival has clung to his creation. he dots and worries over teddy as if he’s a child and not some machine made to look like a grown man. now he’s just fine tuning some of the simpler details. this piece of hair needs to be pulled back just so, the collar of this shirt needs to settle like this, and so forth.  “ yes, i think that’s it. how do you feel? ”
