A Walk in Woods (Portraits Orientation) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While I won't deny that tendency I have is to capture images in a more landscape orientation, there are other times when one can only turn the camera sideways to capture the beauty of trees stretching up to the skies above. That's what this image is about while walking to Twin Falls one Saturday afternoon In Olallie State Park in Washington. One thing I did have to keep in mind with this portrait orientation was the dynamic range of the image from the brighter, overcast skies above and the trees and plant-life that tended to be more in shadows. I found a point in the mid to upper leaves that seemed to best capture a mean value and use that to meter the image for a good shutter speed with the aperture chosen.
