The Sad Effects of COVID-19
They say most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness. Now it is affecting young people too and people of all ages…

Today I’m looking for hope.
I hate eczema. It leaves me tired, exhausted and achy. People act like having a skin condition can be cured by moisturizer. No one realizes the mental health issues that arise as a result of having a skin condition. Depression and anxiety creep up and often linger, leaving people with eczema sleepless and helplessly insecure about their appearance and abilities in life. The unpredictable nature of eczema is a constant threat to a sufferer’s quality of life. Not knowing when a flare up will occur or when it will subside is frustrating. It is not unusual for me to find myself wondering if I’ll ever go swimming again because the chlorine in swimming pools eats at my skin. Or dreaming of travelling, only to stop and realize the countless complications that happen when eczema is encountered by different climates. Lately I can’t help but wonder if I’ll ever get married or be in a relationship. Who would want to stick around a girl with scaly skin and open wounds? Even if I do manage to find someone who can accommodate my health needs, I couldn’t bare to burden an innocent child with this illness. Eczema is genetic, so I would endlessly blame myself for being selfish enough to want a child that I knew could possibly have the disease. It sounds crazy but if i can prevent the pain that I feel on a regular basis from happening to someone else, I believe I’m doing a good deed. This is definitely a negative way to think but i can’t help it. This helpless feeling is reinforced by the growing expense of eczema products and moisturizers. I once read that poor families struggle the most with eczema because they cannot afford certain creams and prescription medicines. In this respect, I am more than thankful to God that I have had the opportunity to try numerous creams and that healthcare is much more affordable in Canada than in the USA. Not having to make the choice between medicine and essential life needs is an unequivocal blessing. Alhamdulilah! This negativity I have infused in this post is a reflection of my current feelings and recent mood. Somewhere deep within me, however, I believe in reaching full health and quality of life. I believe in beating all the odds and conquering eczema. I pray I find the strength and conviction to allow these beliefs to uplift my spirits and heal me from the inside out. In order to do this I know I need one thing that I’ve been lacking: hope. Today I’m looking for hope and I pray it finds me soon.
