An au where the reader is a bot, originally meant for caregiving, but was discarded by their original owner and modified by a new owner for fighting.

Although it is illegal, many like to pit their bots against each other in fatal fights. Whether sentient or not. And unfortunately for the reader, they are entered into one of the biggest tournaments in the country, with a DUO of champions who are going on their sixth year in the tournament.

They might be in a little bit of trouble.

centurion longinus in our martyred lady and custodian amon tauromachian, later renamed into longinus in the first wall, appear to be the same man (custodians are too few to have repeating names, and oml and tfw are both written by gav thorpe, so it makes sense he would make a reference to this character) and it really makes everything click into place. longinus, who was tasked by malcador during the siege of terra to keep watch on the spreading lectitio divinitatus, who had his hand in putting the age of apostasy to stop for that exact reason, continues his duty even in m41, which must have been the reasoning behind him accompanying celestine and inquisitor greyfax to ophelia VII, both to keep the ecclesiarchy in check and to oversee legitimacy of celestine's sainthood as he did with euphrati keeler and alicia dominica.

as a side note. we also know that in celestine: the living saint andy clark writes that celestine's first death happened during the siege of terra, in the emperor's palace, and she was not a warrior back then — probably one of the refugees that were accommodated in the chamber of senatorum imperialis?
