But for real, Asa is one of my favorite romance heroes for a reason. He's so, so slutty. (His reaction to Eve asking him to whip it out and do things to himself SEVERAL times is basically like "well I haven't done this here before but okay".) Yet he's such a deeply good man who pretends to be not good.

I really really love the contrast between Asa and Winter (his brother, hero of Thief of Shadows for those not in the know, which may in fact be my favorite historical romance, I honestly am not sure lol); you can tell she put a lot of thought into it because on the surface they're polar opposites, but in reality they both have such great hearts. And they both end up with these very strong, very tough women who've been through so much, and really need true tenderness and love and adoration. There's a degree of patience within both Asa and Winter that I think is very hard to write without it coming off as boring. Yet they're both the opposite of boring, and it really comes off as them both actually having a deep respect for women lmao
