I don't know if this is what I was expecting, but this is what I got. I call it "Bathroom Eyes" . It definitely started out as a #marchmeetthemaker prompt. "Why I do this" has a lot to do with the way I see the world. . Quirks of genetics and biology has "gifted" me with permanent double vision. A surgery when I was 7 corrected the lazy-eye appearance, but neither that, nor glasses, nor months of wearing an eye-patch as a young child were able to "trick" my brain into merging the images from my two eyes into one. . Years ago I started to try to find ways to portray my visual experience of the world. Learning #aftereffects has given me some tools and vocabulary to explore expressing it. But even before I attempted expressing it in video form, I unknowingly (and abstractly) was expressing my #doublevision via my #doubleexposure photography. . Even though I now have the capability to share what it's like in my head (visually, anyway), when I sit down to play around with video, I find myself playing with #abstractvideo most of the time. . Why do i do this? Why do I make art? To express myself. To reveal myself. To share the world I live in, even if it only has tangential relationships to reality. . It's Saturday night--prime time--and I've spent the past four hours leaning into my computer, shoving around #keyframes until I was happy with the results. Four of the most prized hours of the weekend, alone at my keyboard.
