Everything in Thor’s body ached. It was unusual for him, and he was beyond the term uncomfortable by now, but there wasn’t anything to be done. Jotunheim was unforgiving in its warmest months, and it’s winter was unbearable --- but Ronan wanted to have at least a small ceremony there, to cement his marriage to Kennedy. And while Thor understood his desperation to find his roots and make them a part of his life, Loki hadn’t been as understanding --- and with good reason, Thor knew. He’d grown up thinking the Jotuns were monsters, after all. Ronan grew up as one.
After a while of walking, they made it outside of the ice palace’s gates. It felt odd to be there in peace (if that’s what you wanted to call the Giants’ thinly veiled tolerance of his presence on their home world), and even more odd not to have Jane with him; but they’d all agreed that Jotunheim in its winter was no place for a mortal. Kennedy slipped by with her superior genes, as did her father, but no one else would be able to join.
“There better be fires inside. I’m nearly frozen,” Thor mumbled to his brother, who was the only one near him. There was a light jest in his tone, for he knew Loki would not be at all happy that his son was choosing to have any sort of ceremony there. “’Tis a shame Jane couldn’t come,” he continued, walking into the palace’s walls and sighing with the slight relief the shelter provided. “She would quite enjoy it here, with the never-melting ice and such.”
