I do wonder if he’s still turning in scripts super late. I have no clue if he was joking or not, but a while back when asked about some stuff regarding his venom run he remarked that he would often turn in scripts so late they couldn’t be properly edited. So I can see errors slipping by if he’s handing in manuscripts at the last moment. But he might not be doing that anymore, or he was exaggerating in the first place.
That’s interesting, I hadn’t heard that before. I guess that could explain his error -- although not Spencer doubling down on it in ASM -- although if Marvel can let Abrams Jr. take eighteen months delivering a single issue script or accommodate Slott’s various delays, I think they could probably delay Cates’ releases until they could be properly edited. Or they could, you know, get another writer; it’s not like Venom isn’t a title various writers wouldn’t kill to get their hands on. And obviously deadlines and overworking creators and not providing enough support for them is a big deal and very much something Marvel should be working to improve for the well-being of their employees instead of rushing through the editing process and delivering barely checked over content to their readers. Feeling like it’s pretty lose-lose.
