thinking about how nanami is not an easy man to be in a relationship with. like, it can be rocky for a hot minute. he is so clammed up and he has so much to unpack that it has to manifest as contention or discomfort in a relationship because there are things he just Does Not want to talk about or even know how to start to untangle all the threads barely holding him together. and he doesn't want to end up basically trauma dumping on anyone and imagine if that person isn't a sorcerer? it's just another added layer of difficulty because he feels he really can't talk about it.

like, his healthiest coping mechanism is going to the grocery store and staying in the produce section for an hour, then staring at the condiment section for another hour dissociating.

dgmw, he's not a bad choice. he is, in fact, a catch. but, the emotional baggage is heavy and he doesn't want anyone else to get close enough to carry it. but, please help him. but, don't come near him. but, he wants someone to share his life with. but, he doesn't want to budge an inch. LIKE !!!!!!!!

while i do subscribe to the fanon opinion that kento was into mcr, i have always liked to think of him as a fall out boy and paramore fan. [shoko got him into paramore]. perhaps also nirvana and soundgarden, there are a lot of 90's grunge on his ipod. but, also jeff buckley. and soft jazz music, some swing. anyways. one day, i'm going to educate myself more on more japanese bands and artists so my music headcanons don't only revolve around western music. but, those are some bands/artists/genres i think he'd jam to.

retired hitman au for nanami kento ...

connected to my satoru's au, kento is a retired hitman. he used to be in the same group that hired satoru, but retired, growing tired of the job. his leaving was unconventional, and more of a desertion as opposed to an official retirement.

he initially moved to denmark, setting up a new life for himself there. he eventually opens up a bakery, which he owns and works in.

he often visits a provincial coastal town in japan, where he owns a home. there, he opens a humble stand that he seasonally sells bread and pastries from. when he's not there, it is managed by an elderly couple and their grandchildren to sell their specialties until he returns to sell his own goods.

again, a basic premise. but some potential conflicts that i think would be interesting is his old life dragging him back into the fray for whatever reason, having a bounty on his head, or just running into people from his old life and it being both so unpleasant to him and awkward. anyways, i like to leave it up to plotting so we can tweak and fill in the blanks however we want.

what kind of i love you are you ?

shoko ... i love you and i wish you knew just how much: the pining, the aching, the wishing, and hoping; it's what you whisper to yourself under the cover of darkness as you fall asleep thinking of them. it's the text you've typed out and deleted before sending at least a dozen times. it's the countless pictures of them you have of them on your phone, the home screen image of their smile that you know will give you away the next time they jokingly swipe your phone. it sits restless and suffocating at the back of your throat. rip dude, i know how that is.

kento ... i love you, i've always loved you, i will always love you: it's commitment, it's devotion, it goes often without saying, but is felt nonetheless. it's accepting that you would travel to hell and back for them if they asked and knowing that they would do the same for you. it's an old ache, long after they've burrowed deep into your chest and settled there like a weight- grounding, an anchor point. even when you're apart, you can still feel the shape of them, it's like phantom pain. neither of you can help but succumb to the other's gravity, yet neither of you fear the collision. it means that you trust them, that they make you feel safe, that they feel like home.

kento has a small rectangular aquarium on a stand in one of the corners of his living room. there are about ten different tiny tropical fish in there. the quiet bubbling noise of the aquarium is nice ambient sound and it has some soft lights that illuminate the inside of the aquarium when all the lights are off.

when i have the time, i should put together a photoset of each.

for shoko, her camera roll is like a grab bag of the most random stuff. she takes pictures of things that remind of her of someone else and either sends it immediately but never deletes the picture, or forgets to send it and never deletes the picture. she's also too lazy to go through her camera roll to delete stuff unless she's already in there looking for something else.

she also has silly photos and candids of her friends. she's quick to snap a photo of an embarrassing situation. sometimes, short videos of her friends embarrassing themselves. she likes capturing memories in general, but she rarely looks back on them.

as for social media, i really struggle to see shoko having a modern social media presence at all. i'm very sure as a teenager she did. oh gosh, she might have had a flickr. nothing professional on there, just all their silly teenage pictures. maybe some landscape shots of pretty places, but nothing where she's trying to stage anything professionally. i think i could kindaaa seeing her having a twitter account that she's had forever and never got rid of. goes on there to say something cryptic or dry af. she's posted pics on twitter before of some things she finds funny out and about.

for nanami, his camera roll is a lot of food, snapshots of scenery, and a few miscellaneous things. he uses the food pics to compare when he plates his own food. he doesn't do it all the time, but plating his food, even if it's just for himself--- he finds it cathartic and mind-clearing, something to focus on when he doesn't want to think. it honestly helps him enjoy his food more because he's worked so hard to both make it and make it presentable. anyways. this is turning into a food hc. he rarely has pictures of people and if he does, they're usually candid and well-shot. if he has selfies in there, it's because the other person dragged him to take it and then saved it on his phone too. if he has significant others, there is a specific folder of just pictures of them. yes, he will organize his pictures into folders.

as for social media, i'm sure as a teenager, one of the classmates made him get something so they could all be connected and annoy each other online, lmao. but, as for modern social media, he likely has a private account he saves pictures to as an archive of sorts. it's likely all food. it helps him stay organized and caption it so he can catalog it. no one follows him there and he doesn't give it out. i will say, silly animal videos makes him laugh for some reason. so, he has reposts of silly animal antics. but the only one who can see it is him, lmao.

headcanon: nanami kento, re. restaurants preferences.

nanami has an appreciation for a wide range of foods. he does have a few fancy places on his list of favorites, but he has regular hole in the wall type restaurants he likes to frequent. there's something comforting about the sound of pots and pans clanging, sizzling and crackling, the noises of a kitchen within earshot.

while i wouldn't say he particularly enjoys cramped spaces, there's something about fitting into a singular seat against the wall with only two or three other tables to accommodate other guests, or maybe even only bar seating which is even better because he can peek into the kitchen as they prepare the food. sometimes, he prefers taking it to go and being in the quiet of his own apartment, but other times the proximity to people just living their lives and enjoying the same food in the same space is an experience that quells that nagging loneliness.

there are food stalls he ventures out to when he can get the chance when the street food craving strikes. he'll try to make it out one of the nights when a night market features nearby.

he doesn't like gimmicky or themed eateries much. the type that have performances or a specific style of service. it's both overwhelming and not the type of noise he wants to be surrounded by.
