Did anyone realise the text used on this book by Varric has actual readable text in it? As in not using Lorem Ipsum but real text? The following I managed - With some hellp from the translator AI on google bc I couldn't fully read some of the tiny words. It's not 100% as I know for a fact the AI fixed some of the grammar mistakes I could spot and it also skipped a few sentences. I also noticed page 2 was mirrored so I fixed that while researching it. The shown images is the original I found on the wiki with the mirrored page. After getting google to get out most of the bread text I edited it to make it make more sense (It was calling the Chantry 'the Chonley' for example. Anyway this is what I managed to get out of it. Thought someone might find it interesting as I haven't seen anyone mention this before online.
In the ancient past. The city that is now Kirkwall was once the heart of the Empire. It was the heart of pure trade, a place that held nearly a million slaves taken from foreign lands, as well as the more barbaric regions to the east and south. They were transported there by ship and thrown into the unfathomable depths of the city's industrial mas-stone quarries and a sea of flames that produced the steel for the rest of the Empire. The city grew rapidly beyond the dreams of the warriors, but it was all built on the backs of slavery. This was a place of barbarity and deeper darkness, a place that few escaped, and when it finally turned against the Empire, a wrath rose here that was rarely seen. The city that stands today is built on the ruins of a past, one that most cultures today would prefer to forget.
The two most prominent features of Hightown are the Keep, the home to the city's ruling Vicount and his court, and the Chantry, home to the Grand Cleric and the center of religious worship in the city. These are both ancient structures dating back to the time of the Empire. Home to the wealthiest mages and badly damaged after the city's fall long ago. Both have been rebuilt and embellished, and the wealthy cluster in the houses around the Keep and Chantry. From their position in the city, which depends entierly on their seats of power, white clad towers extend from the steps of the High market, bordering the somber building of the Dwarven Merchant's Guild. In more gorgeous areas the growing power of [Orlais] (Orlais? I think it sais Orlais - google sucked with this word XD ) shows itself in the flatteringly - [ This is where I couldn't for the life of me figure out what it said and google made 0 sense in contrast to the source text in the image with it's interpretation. I thiiink it sais something about maybe emerald? and the Grandchathedral?
googles interpretation:
" clearlu show the elaborate ornate walls, as the "tower"/Keep have been trimmed to incredible gothic grandeur]
Also fun thing I've noticed. This booktitle reads "Hightown Romance"
*Runs to a03 to make it happen XD*
