What's your blog title from?
I made it up, as I used to have to spend an awful lot more time in bed than I currently do.
2. What movie have you watched most recently? What did you think of it?
It was a rewatch of “Terminator 2: Judgement Day” which still seems pretty good, especially the warning about giving AI machines access to make military decisions. The newest film I’ve seen is “Rental Family”, and loved the gentle emotional ride.
3. what are you looking forward to right now?
My youngest son’s wedding which is only a few months away now. It’s wonderful to see him so happy.
4. if you could do anything at all today, what would it be?
Apart from getting my husband to cheer up, you mean? Erm. I’d love to be back in Scotland.
5. What's your drink of choice? (Coffee/tea order, alcohol of choice, pop, etc)
Since my gall bladder surgery changed my life, my drinks of choice are: hot chocolate, mint tea, and lemonade (aka Sprite, for any Americans).
6. What's your hair routine like? Anything special?
Nothing special, just wash, comb, dry naturally and straighten later.
7. what's your favourite way to travel? Is there a mode of travel you haven't done that you want to experience?
I’m not sure that I do have a favourite mode of travel; and I don’t travel much by bus, train, or plane any more (if at all). Recently I had to change my car, and this new one certainly gets going when you press the accelerator! If it wasn’t for the fact I’m having to drive my husband about [see the beginning to no. 4] that’d definitely be my favourite.
8. favourite month of the year and why?
It used to be May because the evenings were a lot lighter, I’d be super busy and a long holiday loomed before birthday season hit. Nowadays, any month that isn’t December is fine.
9. favourite time of day and why?
The sheer indulgence of being able to read in bed just after midnight makes it a pretty good time of day.
10. do you play or follow any sports? & elaborate on that?
Sports on the whole have been a thing I’ve felt excluded from., where playing is concerned. All those hours being forced to be goal defence in netball really turned me off. I used to enjoy playing darts, snooker, and table tennis, a long time ago. These days, I don’t even manage to keep up with the latest snooker championship.
11. what kind of music is stuck in your head a lot lately?
Funnily enough, this doesn’t tend to happen much to me lately. No idea why. Perhaps it’s the medication I’m on?
12. dishes or laundry?
I don’t mind either, but I’ve just treated myself to a new washing machine which is miles quieter than our old one, so I’ll give that some love.
13. what's something you learned recently?
That making your own cleaning solution using bicarbonate of soda, water, and white vinegar really does work.
14. if you could give a TED talk on anything, what would you talk about?
No idea. Perhaps I could rustle up something from my long forgotten psychology degree. Or I could rant on about how beneficial playing with Lego is for children’s mathematical skills.
15. What's a piece of advice you find yourself giving a lot?
Try and make every learning experience a positive experience. Or adjust to your child’s abilities and not make the child adjust to yours. Something like that.
16. what's a piece of advice you would give to yourself five years ago?
Make that doctors appointment for your husband.
17. do you believe in luck and superstition? Do you carry any lucky items or follow any lucky rules?
I know it’s illogical to believe in luck but it is still ingrained to do certain things, like touch wood. My belief is that we are each given an equal amount of good luck and bad luck, and it is up to us how we deal with it. My mum gave me a mini angel to carry, and it is still in my bag as a reminder of her more than as a talisman.
18. Are you musical? Play any instruments or sing? Would you ever perform for an audience?
To a certain extent I’m musical. Played in the school recorder group (like you do) and sang in a few choirs in my younger days. When we moved here I had planned to join the church choir, but my singing voice skipped away during a bad cold and never came back. Although I can’t sight read, I can read music and play by ear. That tends to keep me amused.
19. Write, type, or speak?
Despite my former job being dependent on me speaking, I’ve always been keener on writing; plus my typing has become awful lately due to the arthritis in my fingers. An old friend said that she never knew I had so much to say until I wrote her letters. Can’t say I’ve got any chattier since then.
20. what do you wish someone would ask you?
No idea. But I like being asked questions and am very used to it. Anything that isn’t “what’s for dinner?” yet again would be refreshing.
I'm tagging: @smackalicious, @nathaylee and anyone else who would like to have a go.
