continuing from my anti-live-action-remake post... i CONSISTENTLY see people say "exceptions are treasure planet and atlantis" but this is also incorrect. a live action remake of either of these films would not result in these movies getting their flowers, it simply would not. a huge part of the appeal of both films is the visual language, the highly stylised characters and worlds, and you just KNOW if these were realised in "live action" especially by the disney corp of the present day, would just result in visually dark (as in hard to see) flat, uninspired CGI scenery, and equally bland and uninspired costuming for the live action characters, PLUS the flat, unexpressive performance of many 3D, hyper realistic, unstylised, boring as all hell alien characters in the case of treasure planet. you can cry "exceptions" all you like but the result would be as insipid and valueless as any other "live action remake" and that is a PROMISE!!!
ooooh babey i think i officially love block printing
2023 vs 2026 (both were april weddings!)
you know i was recently ranting to someone about how i think the american "mom" and british "mum" aren't interchangeable different pronounciations of the same word and therefore can be spelled either way, but rather different words like as though from different dialects
say you're watching an american TV/movie and there's a stray english character, mostly you will hear "mum" but the subtitles will spell "mom" because ig whichever american person it is doing the subtitles thinks it's interchangeable....
anyway -- same day i was ranting, i then got home and watched the s2 finale of netflix one piece and it's a rare piece of media that subtitle-wise, seems to agree with me!!! i literally paused the scene when i noticed to recount my rant to my partner 😂
case in point: american-accented nami says "mom" and the subtitles spell it "mom" :
and english-accented sanji says "mum" and the subtitles spell it "mum" :
VINDICATED!!!
also later in the scene taz skylar has that line "oh my little prince, what have you brought for me today" and he said the word "today" in such a northern way (tuh-dehh) when speaking as his character's mum... (in contrast to his own... multicultural london english sounding accent) (london's southern)
and i beliiiiieve his actual like real life mum is from yorkshire (yorkshire's northern) which is possibly what informed that pronounciation of the world "today" in that specific context so. who's to say they'd ever get far enough in the series to need to cast his character's mum at all but if they did. make her northernnnnn
watched swiss army man again last night and Was Moved. my ability to be moved by the corpse farts movie speaks of how impressive it is to create something beautiful when a large part of the movie is corpse farts.
obsessed with this pikmin bloom player who's made their mii's face into a scary mouth for the rock pikmin
