Meet the Players: The Forwards

Kosovare Asllani

Although last season proved a rather disappointing campaign for Asllani, who never quite found a rhythm at CD Tacón, the 31 year old will be looking to turn it around this year at Real Madrid. Coming off a crunching injury at the World Cup and an incomplete preseason, perhaps a muted campaign was expected in Tacón’s first season at the top flight. Although there were bright moments, Asllani joins Real Madrid with something to prove.

Sofia Jakobsson

Faring better than her Swedish teammate, Jakobsson was a stand out player for CD Tacón in their 2019/20 campaign. The top scorer for Tacón with 7 goals for the side, and our top assist provider at 8, she proved a decisive force in attack. At 30, Jakobsson will hope to continue her form wearing the white of Real Madrid.

Marta Cardona

Another new signing for Real Madrid, this 25 year old winger plays mostly on the right. Her quick pace and 1v1 ability allows her to take on most defenders and put good balls into the box.

Lorena Navarro Dominguez

Only 19, Lorena netted 3 goals and had 2 assists last season for CD Tacón. Her excellent performances were no surprise to anyone who watched her on Spain’s U17 team, where she won the Golden Boot at the World Cup. After an explosive season in Spain’s top flight, Lorena is looking to continue her growth as a Real Madrid player.

Chioma Ubogagu

Signed in 2019 for CD Tacón, Ubogagu was a sensation in the final stretch of the season. The 27 year old totaled 5 goals and 3 assists for the side and will look to continue this good form in the new year as a Real Madrid player.

Olga Carmona García

Olga is another new signing this season, playing anywhere on the left side, though usually as a left winger. With quick pace and decisive passing, Olga can be deadly on the ball while also proving to be quite the defensive asset. Good in 1v1s and with excellent positional awareness, this 20 year old will help Real Madrid out at both ends of the pitch.

Jessica Martinez

With 3 goals, Martinez did well showing why she deserves to be fighting for a spot among proven world class players. At just 21, Martinez is still an emerging talent, but will be looking to prove herself during Real Madrid’s 2020/21 Primera Iberdrola campaign.
