Lori: Right around then, I reconnected with Jon (Metalion) over social media. He goes, ‘Hey, there’s this movie coming out. I don’t know if you’ve heard, but they re depicting me and my friends.’ So, I watched it - and by the end, I felt so depressed. I had no idea Euronymous was murdered.

What I appreciated is how well the movie captured the metal scene aesthetics. The way everyone dressed: denim vests, leather jackets, studs.. everything I used to wear. I watched it with my mom and told her, That’s exactly what Nuclear Death parties looked like! June 1991 - the same month “Carrion for Worm” came out - Mayhem guitarist Euronymous opened his Helvete shop in Oslo, Norway. Lori had been introduced to him a few years earlier through Metalion of Slayer Mag.

Lori: I’ve always loved Venom and Mercyful Fate, so when this new black metal movement came along, I immediately went, ‘Oooh.’ I was tape-trading with Jon (Metalion), and he sent me a Mayhem EP dubbed on cassette.
