what’s up, it’s ya girl, Lizzie, back again with another original book idea

so, Security Breach got me hooked on the concept of an innocent person being mind controlled into being an serial killer, but the franchise did NOTHING with it, so i’m taking matters into my own hands

the book is about an eighteen-year-old girl named Lori living on her own in an RV at a beach town. Lori picks up this ANCIENT game at her local antique store. it’s of this old, absolutely unknown game called Carousel (a filler name for now). Carousel comes with this actual mini carousel that you’re meant to plug into your computer (similar to a Skylander portal, if that makes sense). once the carousel is plugged in, you can add character figures onto it that give you different perks (still working the whole thing out, but the carousel IS plot revenant).

Carousel is a pixelated game about this this failing circus. it opens with a cutscene of the circus doing poorly, and the five Ring Leaders (still deciding their names) have a conversation about creating a new attraction. their solution is to create a Circus Freak—or a Chimera, a creature so incredibly bizarre that NOBODY will want to miss glimpsing it. the player character (named Lyle) then has to go out and collect body parts from different encounters with different beasts (a rather gruesome plot point that is largely glossed over in the game itself).

Lori spends days playing, until she finally completes the Chimera.

but when she tries to give it power and finish the game, she gets a notification that reads: “Requires Blood Sacrifice.”

and she’s like, “okay, i guess i gotta do another quest!”

except she can’t find ANYTHING that will give her blood in the game.

she looks online, but because the game is so unknown by most people, she can’t find anything there either.

after a few days of confusion, she finally starts to put the pieces together.

but it can’t be…

what kind of game mechanic would that be?

how would that even work?

well…might as well see if it’s right…

so, Lori cuts her finger, drips a little blood onto the carousel, and…

and it works.

the Chimera’s creation is complete.

Lori is so freaked out that she shuts off the game.

the next day at work, she starts to feel really weird.

she notices that the corners of the store she works at are beginning to, like…bug out. you know how screens will distort and entire pixels will disappear? it’s like that, but…in real life.

when customers call out to her, they look pixelated. and text boxes appear in thin air to lay out what they’re saying.

naturally, she blacks out.

and when she wakes up, there’s a voice in her head. a voice that doesn’t belong to her.

he simply calls himself Al.

it’s later learned that Al was one of the creators of Carousel, but in one way or another, he was quite literally banished into the video game. and now that he’s free (or partially free), he NEVER wants to go back.

so, he requires a vessel.

and since Lori was so good at making a Chimera the first time, surely one more won’t hurt…

except this time, it’s not video game characters she’s having to cut up, but real, living people.

Love Torn Chapter 10: Time is Up

Today is the Moon Ring Ceremony. 

It is a tradition in which the southern mermaids, the Mako pod, welcome their new mermaids with their moon ring. 

This ring is essential to protect the pod, give stronger powers to the mermaid, and destroy unwanted sea monsters from overtaking their land. 

Each mermaid has to be able to control the oval-shaped aqua center of the ring. If a young mermaid fails, then chaos overtakes the faith of the helder's life.

This piece of the ring holds a piece of Mako Island's moon pool water and gains its source from the moon's reflection. Surrounding the center of the ring are two silver mermaid tails that stretch and slim down to create the ring's loop. It is a simple piece of jewelry that looks medieval with a modern twist.

Unlike the many Mako mermaids in the pod, Audrey wasn't allowed to gain her ring due to the age limit.

Previously, the age was sixteen to receive said ring. That changed after the war between the northern and southern tribes due to crossing unauthorized territories. The casualties of several southern pod mermaids' deaths were due to a strategic lack of discipline. The war almost led the pod to nonexistent.

Luck changed when the first mermaids of Mako Island came into the war. Cleo Sertori, Emma Gilbert, and Bella combine their powers, and they blast the northern pod back into their territories. 

After the war, Mako mermaids must train at a young age, and these young mermaids don't receive their rings until they are eighteen.

Audrey was twenty when she became a mermaid. Therefore, the Mako council thought it was nonessential for the princess to obtain a moon ring.

Loriana Penelope Rose was the exception to the rule. 

Aquata, the sister of Sirena, Lyla, and Mimi, the three powerful mermaids of the pod, had placed their positions in the Mako pod at risk by speaking to the Mako council.  

With permission from Audrey, Mimi told the council of six elderly mermaids why Audrey became a mermaid and the future of Lori's mission in Auradon. 

All six mermaids asked to see Audrey and Lori in mermaid form before the final decision on Lori's fate in the pod was made.

Mimi was hesitant about sending the request to the single mother. 

She didn't want Audrey alone with the council because they could strip Audrey of her tail. The previous northern mermaid, Mimi, knew she had no say over the pod's council order. So, she obeyed. 

After receiving a private invitation from Mimi through a moon ring message, Audrey was so terrified when she met them that she almost didn't want to go. Still, her mother's instincts took over with the need for answers to protect Loriana.

From the moment the council saw Lori with her light red hair and an orange tint, they confessed to Audrey about Lori's future through a dark lord passage from another dimension. 

This is what the six elderly memaids told Audrey Rose in the fifth month of May.

"A dark lord named Rumplestiltskin came to us yesterday from Storybook Maine." One of the six mermaid began in a frantic tone.

Audrey was shocked at having this stranger's name brought to her while they were in the middle of the ocean. Yet her instincts told her,' This person is a key in defeating her grandmother. Find out all you can about this so-called lord.'

With her daughter in her arms, Audrey asks in an authoritative tone, "What does Rumble-"

Another council mermaid cuts her off by replying in a demanding tone, "You cannot call his name out!"

Audrey was confused by the mermaid's outburst until the head of the council, Veridia, explained. 

"We know all types of mermaids from all dimensions.' She began as the five other mermaids swam in a circle around Audrey and her daughter. "A red-headed mermaid named Ariel stumbled into our dimension. She mentioned an Evil Queen, Regina, who took her voice. Regina's mentor is this Dark Lord, and he can see into the future. His power is so strong that he appears when his name is spoken out loud. We made a deal with him. In exchange for giving Loriana powers to protect your dimension, he will not come into this dimension again."

Audrey held baby Lori closer to her heart before asking, "What did he tell you? And why is he willing to help us?"

A council mermaid on her right answered, "The dark Lord didn't say much about his reasons for coming. Nor did the strange reptile man give explanations for his reasons for helping. He only told us to prepare Loriana Penelope with knowledge about protecting our pod. As for you, The Dark Lord suggests that you should treasure your time with your daughter. On the day of Lori's moon ring celebration. Your daughter will be separated from you. This deal by your grandmother with him was made as a way to obtain a poisonous potion.   Audrey gasped from hearing their confession before asking, "Is that all?"

Another council mermaid behind her responds, "The dark lord gave us a set of jewelry which will protect your daughter from transforming whenever her body touches water unless she calls upon her powers. It was given to him by someone named Nicolas Flamel."

Veridia nods in agreement as another council elder hands Veridia a turquoise velvet jewelry box so that she can open it for Audrey to see the contents inside the box. 

Inside is a set of gorgeous but small pendants of a moon and stars. The stars are small fake diamonds, and the crescent's center is aquamarine. 

The jewelry isn't noticeable and can blend with her daughter's ivory skin. 

This is a good sign for Audrey because Queen Leah always took expensive jewelry from Audrey whenever Prince Ben would give her something for special occasions. 

A sigh of relief escapes the mother of the savior's lips from seeing the powerful jewelry. 

The last thing she wants is for her grandmother to gain control over her daughter's powers.  

Audrey nods as she accepts the jewelry set before Veridia closes the box and hands it back to the other mermaid elder.

"The Dark Lord told us that Lori would receive them on the night of the moon ring ceremony. He would have a letter with instructions for each piece of jewelry. No one is allowed to see the letter except for Loriana. Any person who opens it will be cursed with death."

Audrey was about to approach the other elder to grab the jewelry box when Veridia stopped her. 

"This jewelry set will be with Rita since she will be training her. Your daughter will have two lessons. One with the rest of the pod and the other alone to practice with the jewelry set. These sessions cannot be missed unless Loriana is ill."

"Very well," Audrey replied before the council as they dove back into Alaska's ocean.

Knowing that today is Audrey's last day with her daughter. She made Lori's favorite foods for breakfast, took serval pictures with her previous camera from Auradon, and prepared the essentials to make the moon ring ceremony memorable for Lori. 

Right now, Audrey was about to make her plate when the doorbell of their apartment rang.

Dread feels the savior's heart while she glances at her daughter eating a whole plate of eggs, turkey links, and hashbrowns before walking towards the front door entrance.

Audrey slowly crosses the small living room before walking barefoot on two-by-four-inch entrance tiles. She then takes a couple of breaths in and out to calm her nerves before opening the apartment door. 

Outside the narrow hallway of the 603 door's entrance is a lovely Irish lady with red hair, brown eyes, peach skin, and a kind smile. Rita, Lori's teacher and beloved mentor of Mimi, hands over the emerald jewelry box and a letter with Lori's full legal name in cursive.

For years, Audrey Rose couldn't stop the nightmares of never seeing Lori again, and the jewelry box has made her fate a reality. 

Lorianna Penelope Aurora Rose is the Savior of Auradon, and Audrey Rose won't be there to see Lori fight against Queen Leah. 

The pain is so piercing that Audrey breaks down before falling in front of Rita.

"Oh, Audrey!" Rita exclaims in pain before following the devastating mother and embracing the now thirty-six-year-old Latina with a back hug.

Another set of agony sobs come out of Audrey's lips while she allows Rita to stroke her newly dyed brown hair. 

They stay in each other's embrace until Lori shouts in concern from the kitchen."Mom, what's wrong?"

Audrey removes herself from Rita's arms as Rita replies on her behalf.

"Nothing to worry about, Loriana!" Rita begins while helping Audrey out by handing her a handkerchief and pulling her off the floor. "I just came to drop off something!" 

Lori hums okay while Audrey dries off the rest of her silent tears.

"Thank you," Audrey whispers to Rita before looking into her caring brown eyes.

Rita gives her a reassuring smile. "Don't worry too much, Audrey."

Audrey's lips twitch. "I prayed that this day wouldn't come. My baby is going to be alone in the vile place. What if my grandmother removed Lori's moon ring? What if the jewelry has a curse? What if Charming doesn't recuse her from Auroria?"

"Audrey, Loriana is a strong girl! She will be able to take care of herself.' Rita takes in confidence. "You raised her to be a selfless and independent lady! Audrey, you must be proud of Lori's resilience to injustice. Every day out of all the years I have known you, I have seen you teach her how to survive any environment." 

"But my grandmother!" Audrey begins, but Rita cuts her off to add." Queen Leah will not know what hit her! As for the ring, Lori can do way more than the other Mako mermaids! With or without the jewelry. Lorian Penelope was born to be a warrior, and she has you thanked."

"Well, I am sorry to say! I can't take credit for archery and sword fighting skills." Audrey confesses to Rita.

Hearing about this hidden talent allowed Rita to ask Audrey the question she had been dying to know since meeting Miss Rose.

"Do you know who her father is?"

Audrey nods no, "I was desperate to make it seem like I succeeded in entrapping my ex as her father. So, I made sure to get drunk and have a one-night stand on the outskirts of Auroria."

Rita's eyes widen before replying, "Then why does Lori believe your ex is her father?"

Audrey leans into Rita's shoulder to whisper into Rita's ear, "To protect King Benjamin's kingdom from my grandmother's control and to give Lori a chance to find love without Queen Leah's influence."

Rita nodded to accept Aurdey's confession while her eyes spoke a promise, 'I won't let anyone know about it.'

Seeing Rita's promise brought Audrey relief. She smiles at Lori's mentor as they face each other again.

"Thank you, Rita!" Audrey states with gratitude behind her words, "I will never forget what you have done for us. But. Right now, I want to spend the last remaining hours with Lori."

Rita gives one last hug before walking back outside and watches Audrey close the door on her emotions.

Whatever the future holds, Rita and Audrey know that Lori will be resilient in finding her mother. With or without knowing who her father is.

Love Torn Chapter 9: Lori's Childhood

Two weeks before Audrey's daughter's due date, she tells the Mako Mermaids about her greatest fear, and the twenty-five-year-old still remembers their suggested plan.

"If you believe your grandmother is going to hurt Loriana Penelope. Or use her as a weapon to get the crown. Then maybe you should have her turn into a Mako mermaid." Mimi states in a worried tone.

Audrey looks at Mimi in shock before asking. "But how would that work? You told me that the moon has to align with the center of the moon pool at Mako Island for her to transition into a mermaid. That's what- only happens on a full moon!" in a neutral tone.

Mimi nods while holding onto Audrey's shoulders in a reassuring side hug.

Sernia sits on the other side of Audrey before replying, "That should not be a problem! The weather forecast states that her due day will have a full moon."

Audrey was uncertain about the idea.

Still, her motherly instincts knew her daughter's future safety was at stake.

Queen Leah could expect her daughter to do what Audrey could never succeed in Fairytale: becoming the future Queen of Auradon.

It wasn't until an hour before giving birth that Audrey decided to take the risk.

She remembers Mimi, Serrnia, and Weilan, a Chinese mermaid who helped Audrey by making the water birth in the moon pool possible.

Audrey didn't know if it would work.

There is so much that could go wrong.

Plus, the side effects of the moon could be unpredictable.

Nevertheless, she had to try.

When the six-pound baby Loriana 'Lori' Penelope Rose took her first crying breath, the moon aligned perfectly with the moon pool at Mako Island's volcano's entrance.

Audrey remembers looking down at her lovely daughter with adoration as she notices Lori having all her features.

If anyone were to look at Lori now, they would know that she was a descendant of Princess Audrey.

Perhaps her daughter would take after her mother, Princess Aurora.

Selfless, Humble, and Kind.

The one thing that didn't stay after the transformation was Loriana's gorgeous brown curls.

Within minutes of the pool starting to bubble around them, Lori's hair became almost invisible to the naked eye.

It won't be until Lori becomes a toddler that Audrey recognizes the colorful trait every magical person gains when living in Fairytail.

To see the moon shine brightly around her daughter and herself was amazing.

The firm switched from human to mermaid was three times before the moon disappeared from the volcano's entrance, and the final transformation became permanent.

By midnight of October 31, XXXX Audrey and her daughter were given long and gorgeous gradient pattern tails by the moon.

Audrey's tail is several pinks of fuchsia, pastel, and baby blue tail.

Meanwhile, her daughter had a purple-teal tail that changed to its permanent colors when she turned thirteen.

It was a shock to see a tail for the first time.

The tail is enormous compared to her petite body, but gaining a tail made Audrey feel ready to protect her daughter.

The moment Audrey held her tiny daughter in her arms for the first time in her mermaid form, she knew Lori had to be ready for the future by telling Lori stories about their universe.

Remembering her past and informing her descendant about the Fairytale wasn't something she wanted to do.

Yet the exiled princess had a gut feeling that her daughter needed to know everything about her family.

The first week after Lori's birth was crazy.

Audrey has one power. Meanwhile, Lori has all three powers. Freezing, Moving, and Boiling water.

Avoiding any liquids was a challenge on its own. But it wasn't the worst part of being a mermaid.

Oh no! Raising a little mermaid was harder.

Whenever Lori would freeze water particles, Audrey could reverse the H2O particles. Those times were easy. It was harder when Lori started to move or boil the element.

Lori was two when a human witnessed her second power.

The poor little girl didn't know what she was doing. Meanwhile, Audrey had to make excuses for their neighbor witnessing strange and unexplainable circumstances by saying, "Mr. Clyde, I assure you that Lori didn't touch the fire hydrant. The hydrant was probably not screwed on tight."

Their neighbors didn't believe her. It got worse when their sprinklers would turn on unexpectedly, and they witnessed the water particles from their sprinkles going around Lori without any explanation.

Audrey didn't want to scold her daughter as her grandmother did to her. Instead, she would kindly warn her daughter about the fears of being discovered as a mermaid.

She remembers squatting down to look to look straight into Lori's frightful eyes and stating in a calm tone, "Lori, sweetheart. I have to remind you that you can't show anyone your special gift. Please do not do that again. We cannot have people find out about us being mermaids, or else someone might take you away from me, and I will never see you again."

Lori would cry because she didn't understand why Audrey would warn her about her gifts until Lori entered her first day at preschool.

It was an exhausting part of Loir's childhood, but in the end, well worth it.

Audrey had a gut feeling that her time with her daughter was running out because she knew her grandmother would be coming any day to bring her back to Aurdon.

There was no doubt in her mind that her grandmother had done something wrong.

Yet, Audrey believes her daughter would be there to save the world.

Love Torn Chapter 1: The Exile Princess

The King of Auradon, Adam Florian, and his wife, Queen Belle, begin the ceremony by acknowledging their people's presence before hugging their son, Benjamin "Ben" Florian.

Inside the throne room and outside the castle's quad-center, two crowds begin their cheerful greeting as the royal family "welcomes" their future daughter-in-law, Maleficent "Mal" Bertha, into their loving family.

Seeing the wholesome acceptance from previous King Adam and Queen Belle makes the people scream louder.

Except for one, the daughter of Princess Aurora and Prince Phillip, Princess Audrey.

For everyone around the entitled princess, this royal marriage is a celebration. But for her, the marriage ceremony is a nightmare.

As an observer, you may think you know the whole story, but you don't. You only know that dragon's point of view.

That will all change today.

Let me make it sweet and simple.

Audrey was eight when she met Ben. They became best friends, and when she turned ten, her grandmother, Queen Leah, advised her to wait for Ben's interest to bloom, and she obeyed.

For three years, Aubrey waited patiently for the future King to take notice, and when he finally did, Ben became her everything.

Sure, she was shallow around his friends, but Ben always made her feel wanted.

Of course that all changed when the daughter of Maleficent came to Auradon Pep.

The petite princess keeps her emotions at bay as she goes through her previous memories and the aftermath of being the Queen of Mean.

For a day, Aurdry removed the chains of her royal responsibilities and allowed herself to grieve. The pain of Ben's betrayal was too much for her heart to handle.

Still, she was relieved to have Ben in her life. That is until today.

Audrey shoves away her next two thoughts to find King Ben looking towards his Queen's direction with a dopey grin behind his smile while saying, "I do."

Audrey stands still as her mind takes her into another memory.

This time, it is the night of their apology.

After being awakened from her deep slumber as the Queen Mean, King Ben and future Princess Mal apologized to her for their actions. She was so embarrassed about turning evil in front of her true love, but that is all in the past.

For the sake of her family, Princess Audrey had to accept their late apology. But she didn't know how to forgive Mal for seducing Ben with forbidden magic.

Still, she had to do what was best for her kingdom.

Audrey's wandering mind stops as the loud cheering from the crowd brings back to her reality.

With pain and fury behind in her brown eyes, she keeps her eyes on Mal before hearing the people of Auradon applauding for their Queen!

The soon-to-be exiled princess poses for the nearest camera as the King and his bride take several pictures with their friends.

The newlyweds then approached Jane, the daughter of Fairy Godmother, before greeting the rest of Ben's friends.

Prince Chad Charming Jr., the son of Cinderella and Prince Charming was by Audrey's side as her mind takes her back to last night's meeting with her grandmother.

August 3, at 8.00 pm, Auroria Castle.

Princess Audrey enters the headquarters of Queen Leah with fear behind her distressed eyes.

Once she enters the double doors of the west wing, she is greeted with a cold atmosphere. All that changes as she approaches her grandmother. 

The eighty-five woman glares at her granddaughter through her three-sided mirror. Her brown eyes stare at the tan girl with no love but disgust and fury.

"Stand up straight!" her grandma orders.

The harsh tone echoes throughout the massive chamber, but the princess of sixteen years old doesn't flinch. Instead, she does as she's told.

" Remember, you are a princess, not a peasant, Audrey" she states coldly.

"Yes, Your Highness!" Audrey replies politely before kneeling in front of the Queen of Auroria.

The once-respected Queen sighs in disappointment as she turns around to face her only grandchild. The tail of her gorgeous beaded Victorian gown follows behind her slim back as she waits for the princess to stand straight.

The moment Audrey's eyes are back on Queen Leah's face, the room grows cold as she waits for the rest of her grandmother's lecture.

"Were you able to do it with King Benjamin?' She asks.

"I did, but--" Audrey begins, but Queen Leah cuts her off.

"He didn't fall for it!" the elderly woman states in a bitter tone.

Audrey looks down before lying through her teeth, "No, he did..."

Queen Leah smiles with fake adoration as she claims in a sweet-baby tone. "Look at you! Poor little Audrey! You can't even get a man to stay by your side for one night. You are so worthless! " She says in one breath before adding, "This was your last chance, Audrey! If this wedding happens, you better be ready to leave Auroria and never step foot in this kingdom again. Do I make myself clear!"

Audrey opens her mouth to protest the order, but Queen Leah silently demands her to stop with her cold eyes before stating in a stern tone, "You are, dismissed!"

End of Flashback.

"Now I remember why I became The Queen of Mean," Audrey whispers to herself as Ben's bride comes over to greet them.

Princess Audrey then exchanges a side hug with Mal before congratulating the Queen of Auradon.

" Congratulations! You won, Dragon!!" She spits out, "I hope you make Ben very happy." She adds in a defeated tone

Queen Mal frowns from hearing the sadness behind the princess' words, but Audrey doesn't acknowledge Mal's concern. Instead, she tries with all her might not to spit on the man-stealer's face while Mal looks back at Audrey with a pitiful expression.

"Don't worry about me. Worry about yourself. Let us hope; you don't cause another scandal, like last time. Where you ran home because you couldn't handle the pressures of being a princess, and then, you allowed Ben to get captured by pirates. That sure is a great way to go down in the history books of Auradon. Long live Queen Mal, who couldn't take on her title responsibilities." Audrey whispers toward the pale white-skinned girl with purple hair through her right ear before removing herself from Mal's embrace.

Queen Mal was about to defend herself when King Ben interrupted their conversation by asking in a concerned tone, "Is everything okay over here?"

"Yes, I am just congratulating Queen Mal on her success." Audrey declares in a fake peppy tone before adding on. "Well, I must be going. I wish you well! Goodnight, Your Highness."

From the corner of her right eye, Ben smiles at Audrey with a thank you gesture before reaching out for a hug. Audrey doesn't acknowledge his gesture. Instead, she gives Prince Charming a small final goodbye kiss on his cheek before walking away from the royal court.

"Audrey!" Ben screams with concern and aggravation.

Before the King can run after his childhood friend, the prince with blue eyes and blonde hair puts his right hand on top of the King's right shoulder and holds him back.

"Just let her go, You have done enough damage!" Prince Charming whispers to Ben in disbelief.

The princess with long brown hair runs out of the palace's ballroom without making a scene. She quickly passes the foyer before stopping in front of the long arch driveway. Audrey was about to start crying when she heard her mother calling her name.

"Audrey, darling!"

The teenage girl stops on her six-inch pink heels before making her way toward Queen Aurora's direction.

My life is over! I am ready for my new life. She thought to herself as she stood in front of her family.

'What's wrong, sweetheart?" Queen Aurora asks her daughter in concern behind her brown eyes.

"I am just tired... I think I am ready to go home." Audrey states in a tire-some tone as she tries to keep her tears at bay.

The elegant woman with blond hair nods her head in an okay gesture before opening her arms out for a comforting hug.

Audrey runs into her mother's arms and gives her the biggest hug she can as she says her final goodbyes.

"Goodbye, Mother, I love you." Audrey says in one painful breath, and her mother replies in adoration, "Goodnight, my angel. Sleep tight!"

Audrey removes her small frame from her mother's embrace before turning towards her father's direction.

"Goodbye, Daddy. I love you.", she whispers into his right ear as he holds her in his strong embrace.

Recently, my father, Prince Philp, learned about my exile. No one knows how, but he promised me: that my mother would not know about my departure. His brown eyes hold back his tears as he replies in a devastated tone, "Please take care of yourself, my darling."

"I will," Audrey states with reassurance before removing herself from her father's embrace.

Audrey takes a second to compose her posture before making her way toward Grandmother's direction.

The moment she was in front of Queen Leah, Audrey wrapped her arms around her petite body before whispering in a defeated tone, "As you have wished, I am leaving right now. Please take care of my mother".

Queen Leah nods in acceptance of her declaration before giving her a smirk of a smile as she replies in a sharp tone, "If you were the Queen of Auradon... this wouldn't be happening. Audrey. You out of everyone should know this by now! You are a disgrace to the family, and it is time for you to take your punishment."

Audrey looks down in shame from hearing her statement as her brown hair locks fall upon her shoulders. She was about to close her eyes and let her tears come down.
