Well, looks like I’ve managed to hone one skill successfully while self-isolating...
Bourbon, triple chocolate chip cookies. Also called Cowboy Cookies or Kitchen Sink Cookies. Christmas baking at its finest.
Making cookies
Melted butter in the pan I thought I’d made simple syrup in earlier. It was the one I’d caramelize onions and mushrooms in. I realized it after I’d put it in the cookie batter. So... we’ll see how this goes?
So my friends at work organized a friendly baking competition
It’s pie. Pie is my specialty. Like when my brother graduated from college he asked for six pies, five for his party and one just for him. Like I’ve made every thanksgiving pie for the last 15 years, whether I’m celebrating with my family or not. I’m best at pie.
The theme of the first bake is cinnamon. I was going to do a whiskey peach pie with peaches from the little local farm my brother works at because let’s start with a statement, right? But I didn’t prep them soon enough and they’d gone bad.
So I bought some late season peaches from the grocery store yesterday while commenting that apple was the too obvious choice for a cinnamon theme (I think I actually said trite) and I wanted to be different. All those peaches are bad too and now apple seems my only option. Curse my hubris.
