Hi guys. I doubt anyone seeing this will live anywhere close to me but my turtle escaped from the pond in my backyard on Saturday around 3:30. Turtles normally cant go 4 days without water (luckilly it rained today) so were getting pretty desperate. Please help us find him! We live in the Lynbrook/Malverne, NY area. There is a bar on our street corner so anyone could have picked him up and taken him elsewhere. He is a yellow bellied slider with four dots on his chest. He actually is pretty fast for a turtle so he could have traveled a bit by now, assuming he can cross the street safely :( Please if you do live in the area look in your front and back yards for us. If you know anyone that recently found a turtle please have them contact me. There will be a reward for his safe return. If you could, at the very least, reblog this post so others can see that would be super helpful! Thank you!
Turtle update
We brought him inside and have a wide plastic bin with about 1.5 inches of warm water in it and a little plastic pan for him to hav his dry basking area (minus the basking light). Also on his little island are romaime lettuce and apple slices. I want to either find his owner or release him to the pond (which im reluctant to walk all the way to) before the week is up. 2 pets is enough for me. And i dont really do aquatic animals anymore. Does anyone have any advice for things im doing wrong or could be doing better in my temporary situation? It was on the pavement in front of my stairs, is there a way to tell if turtles are wild or just missing from their owners? Its a decent (none baby) sized red eared slider from what my reasearch can tell..
