She was intriguing in many ways, he liked the way her smile compliments those peculiar, compelling oddities. If he were to return her smile, it would not nearly be as wide or bright. There was an innocence that lingered here, completely unafraid. Blinking, the air was light, almost feathery around him. Her existence sang of home. Small graces always seem to bleed a familiar thankfulness.
In comparison, Hakuryuu was a lot more serious. And yet, here he sat, naive as always. Unchanged, unaware. Still a prince, some would say. A pawn, a pawn — used by deception alone. Somewhere, lying quiet in a pit of subconscious, he would know. But the surface only waited with eagerness for more, no metaphorical meaning dwelling within. It’s simply about understanding. That’s apart of life. One wonder ever vigilantly across the course of life. Puzzling and perilous. A smile is one of the best gifts, truly.
