Another obscure comedian I interviewed once upon a time
Artie Palmer was a former member of the latter-day version of the Spike Jones Orchestra, having joined for novelty music king’s group in the mid-1960s. Palmer went on to form several different comedy teams - all obscure - including Palmer & Jones, Van & Palmer, and Mercer & Palmer. From gigs in Reno, Nevada to Chatsworth, California and a mafia club called the Lookout House in Fort Wright, Kentucky, Artie Palmer was one of many schleppers working the casino circuit and small restaurant lounges. He died suddenly in 1973.
