Andy MacKenzie & John MacPhail (Loudon Records, LDN 460) • • Ending 2020 with this: a Scottish folk album. Not remotely rock & roll, but this one is special. ••• This minor album was recorded by my dad and John MacPhail, his musical partner at the time. ••• I'm not entirely sure when this was put out. I've read sources online that put it around 1980. My dad can't remember exactly; which is fair enough seeing as he's going to be 80 next year ••• Copies can be found floating around on discogs which I didn't expect, but thought was pretty cool. ••• He also put out a solo album under the Loudon label ( LDN 467) that can also be found on discogs. ••• His musical tastes are a bit different to mine to some degree, but he introduced me to Johnny Cash, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Elvis & The Dubliners to name a few. He was always my greatest champion when I was learning to play bass guitar, started gigging in bands & when I started to study sound engineering. ••• I just wanted to share this album here because I've got to thank my dad for showing me the door to the world of music for me. ••• Like many of you, it's been music that has served as part of my mental centre during this chaotic, clusterfuck of a year. ••• Where would we be without music? The answer to that question doesn't bear thinking about. ••• As the Greek philosopher Plato said "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination & life to everything." • • #andymackenzie #johnmacphail #scottishfolk #loudonrecords #music #lovemusic #instamusic #instavinyl #vinyljunkie #vinyladdict #vinylcollection #vinylcollector #vinylcommunity #record #recordcollection #recordcollector #onmyturntable https://www.instagram.com/p/CJeMOo_Mqcz/?igshid=4az1um7a90jk
