Louis Tomlinson brought his gig to a halt on Wednesday night after spotting that a fan had fainted in the audience.

The former One Direction singer, 30, was performing in the second show of his 2022 world tour in Austin, Texas when he spotted someone in distress near the front.

Louis then stopped proceedings to check if she was OK, before kindly offering her his own water to drink.

In a video seen by MailOnline, Louis is heard asking staff: 'Can we get the lights on please? I think someone's just passed out.'

He then yelled: 'security, security!' as he urged crew to check on the girl in the crowd.

Checking on her health, Louis asked: 'Are you alright love? Can we just make sure she's alright? Let's get her some water.'

Keen for the concert goer to be hydrated as soon as possible, he then said: 'Here love, I'll take the lid off, you can have mine.'

The Back To You hitmaker was then seen kneeling down at the front of the stage to check on her progress, telling the crowd: 'We'll just let her get her bearings'.

Louis followed by remarking: 'Hope you're doing alright love!' before then checking on the rest of the audience if they are 'feeling alright' with his request met with a huge cheer.

After being satisfied that all was well, he then continued with his performance.

While Louis' quick actions led to the fan's safety, it was in stark contrast to Travis Scott's Astroworld concert in Houston on November 5, which led to 10 people being killed - though Louis' gig was a more intimate affair.

Louis Tomlinson announces second album Faith In The Future

The 1D star's second studio album will be released in November.

Louis Tomlinson has announced details of his second solo studio album Faith in the Future.

The One Direction star has revealed the tracklist and artwork of the follow-up to his 2020 debut Walls, which will be released on November 11 2022.

Walls was released in February 2020 and peaked at Number 4 on the Official Albums Chart.

In a statement announcing the new record, Louis said: "I'm so excited to tell you that my new album Faith In The Future is out November 11. After living with this album for a while, I can't wait for you all to hear it.

"Thank you for allowing me to make the music I want to make."

Following the dissolution of Louis' previous record label Syco (who pushed out Walls alongside Arista), Faith In The Future will be his first under a new contract with BMG, who count Rita Ora, 5 Seconds of Summer and Kylie Minogue as other artists under their roster. 

In total, Louis Tomlinson has scored two UK Top 10 singles as a solo artist; Just Hold On with Steve Aoki (Number 2 peak) and Back To You with Bebe Rexha and Digital Farm Animals (Number 8 peak). 

As a member of global behemoth One Direction, Louis also has four UK Number 1 singles, 10 UK Top 10 hits and four Number 1 albums. With Faith In The Future, he becomes the fourth 1D member to issue a sophomore record.

And the crowd left knowing that a new project – and a chance to reunite with old friends – is on the horizon.

Fan projects, palpable energy and plenty of hugs: Louis Tomlinson already had the crowd in the palm of his hands before the openers, a buoyant We Made It and a rock-driven rendition of One Direction’s Drag Me Down, but the former band member wasted no time ensuring this celebratory reunion was one to remember.

It has been a patient wait for Tomlinson and fans alike, after plans to tour his 2020 debut solo project Walls were derailed by the pandemic. Despite carving out a solo sound more in the direction of Britpop and Oasis-esque indie-rock in recent years, it’s clear Tomlinson can’t completely shed his boy-band beginnings. Not that he has the desire to.

His affable authenticity and playing to nostalgia were the biggest assets of the evening, sending the crowd into a tizzy via three effervescent One Direction covers, and he noticeably got lost in moments soaking up the crowd that has grown with him from his first performance at the venue a decade before, to his last Sydney appearance seven years ago, four bandmates in tow.

This time around, Tomlinson’s set was bolstered by his highly cohesive backing band, who found an equilibrium between a ferocious and expansively electrifying sound and the intimacy that his often softer and bright vocal tones, alongside reflective lyrics, demand. It gave the live set an edge over the studio recordings and allowed space for a rollercoaster of emotions – from groovier, cruisy rock in Habit and Always You, and euphoric closing anthem Kill My Mind, to sit effortlessly alongside crowd favourites Don’t Let it Break Your Heart and Only the Brave. The latter felt like an old friend reconnecting through storytelling and giving advice.

Sure, there were letdowns. Concentration that came off as a constraint luckily dissipated into more brimming energy, matching the adrenaline in the room towards the middle of the set. Vocals fell slightly short during some tracks. And at times, there were monotony and a lack of cohesion in the set’s flow. But the crowd embraced all that came their way on the ride.

They wiped away tears and were ready to dance when Tomlinson quickly moved from the apex – poignant ballad Two of Us (with powerful harmonies from band and crowd alike) – into the starkly contrasting upbeat tracks, and took it in their stride when the concert stopped several times (for medical issues) and unwaveringly belted out lyric after lyric.

The night was proof that good things come to those who wait, but the crowd sure left knowing that a new project – and a chance to reunite with old friends – is on the horizon.

Louis Tomlinson plays a second show at the Hordern Pavilion on July 23, and in Melbourne on July 25-26.

Louis Tomlinson has registered four new songs for his second solo album.

The 30-year-old singer - who shot to fame in One Direction - has been hard at work on his follow-up to 2020's 'Walls', and has co-written a bunch of tracks with former 'Fame Academy' winner David Sneddon and Hurts' Theo David Hutchcraft.

According to listings on PRS and ASCAP, the songs are: 'Silver Tongues', 'Pre-tender', 'Saturdays' and 'She Is Beauty, We Are World Class'.

David went on to co-write hits for huge stars, including Lana Del Rey, Lewis Capaldi and Hurts, after winning the first series of BBC One music competition 'Fame Academy' back in 2002.

There is still no official release date or title for the LP, though it has been claimed it could arrive before the end of the year.

A source told The Sun newspaper's Bizarre column in February: “Louis has been working really hard and the music sounds great. So far, about half to three-quarters of the album is done. Hopefully it will be out by the end of the year, but Louis is keen not to rush things for the sake of it.

“Fans will genuinely love what he’s come up with. It’s his best work yet.”

Louis previously admitted that some songs on his first album were "truer to [him] than others" and with album two he wants to ensure he's "owned” everything he's trying to say.

He explained: “I’m very, very excited. I had basically pencilled down a plan before corona took over our lives. And now it's kind of given me a little bit of time to really get into what I want to say and what I want things to sound like. Because, you know, I was really proud of my first record, but there were moments that I felt were truer to me than others. I think that there were some songs where I took slightly more risk and owned what I love, saying, ‘This is who I want to be’. So I want to take a leaf out of their book.”
