Movement (Hozier) = Lestat POV on Louis. The thing about Lestat is that he loves to feel things, all things, intensely. And the thing about Louis is that he makes that happen constantly, whether he's trying to or not. Drumming Song (Florence + The Machine) = Louis POV on episode one and particularly his vampiric transformation. Aengus' Fool (Sleep Walking Animals) = Lestat POV on their years together up through the beginnings of tensions with Claudia. From Lestat's perspective, Louis is in denial about the love that underlies their relationship, but Lestat can see it and tries more and more loudly to get through to him. Lyric spotlight: Light as a feather / But tough as a stone / When you're barely together / But never alone / When a hand on the leg is the best you can do / I know you can't see it / But love looks good on you. / ....I'll shout from the mountains like Aengus' fool / I'll shout from the mountains like Aengus' fool / ....I know you can't see it. / You'll take it or leave it. / But love looks good on you. Knots (Anna Nalick) = Lestat POV watching the relationship quietly unravel and holding on, holding on, holding on anyway. This isn't his aggressive side, it's his tender side, which is also real. Lyric spotlight: All I want is you / And my fingers in your hair / Tangled up as tightly as I dare / I know you're just another life away / And they say if you want something bad enough you'll wait / But I'd hate to be wrong / So I tangle me in strings / Cause I'm strung out on the way we're spiraling / I'm a cyclone and every revolution's confused / It's a shame that you seek resolution / When I wanna stay tied up / All tied up / All tied up in knots, my love.
Sick of Losing Soulmates (dodie) = Lestat POV. Not every lyric is perfect but the heart of it is right on the money: What the hell would I be without you? (What the hell would I be?) / Brave face, talk so lightly, hide the truth (hide the truth) / 'Cause I'm sick of losing soulmates / So where do we begin? / I can finally see you're as fucked up as me / So how do we win?
Dickhead (Kate Nash) = Louis POV on Lestat. He is So Done, and yet listen to the sound: a slinky club beat. Make no mistake, they're making out by the end of this. Lyric spotlight: Why're you being a dickhead for? Stop being a dickhead. / Why're you being a dickhead for? You're just fucking up situations. / Shiny floor, slippery feet, lights are dim, my eyes can't meet / The reflection that turns my images upside down so I can't see. / Think you know everything, you really don't know nothing. / I wish that you were more intelligent / So you could see that what you are doing is so shitty, to me.
Smoking Section (St Vincent) = Lestat POV for the finale of season one. Lyric spotlight: Sometimes I sit in the smoking section / Hoping one rogue spark will land in my direction / And when you stomp me out, I scream and I'll shout / "Let it happen, let it happen, let it happen" / ....Sometimes I stand with a pistol in hand / I fire at the grass just to scare you right back / And when you won't run, I'm mad, but I succumb / Let it happen, let it happen, let it happen.
Flaws, acoustic version (Bastille) = Louis POV as he goes through the second interview and seriously grapples with his own actions & reevaluates Lestat's along the way, too. Lyric spotlight: There's a hole in my soul / I can't fill it, I can't fill it / There's a hole in my soul / Can you fill it? Georgia (Vance Joy) = Louis POV, post-reunion vibes. Lyric spotlight: And I could easily lose my mind / The way you kiss me'll work each time / Pulling me back into the flames / And I'm burning up again / I'm burning up / And I, I never understood what was at stake / I never thought your love was worth its weight / And now you've come and gone / I finally worked it out, I worked it out. Bonus points for the bridge being perfect for Louis watching Lestat pitch a fit over the published Interview With The Vampire book: I never should have told you. / I never should have let you see inside. / Don't want it troubling your mind. / Can't you let it be?
Call and Answer (Barenaked Ladies) = my speculations about their inevitable season 3 situationship. Lyric spotlight: I think it's getting to the point where I can be myself again / It's getting to the point where we have almost made amends / I think it's the 'getting to the point' that is the hardest part. / And if you call, I will answer / And if you fall, I'll pick you up / And if you court this disaster / I'll point you home / I'll point you home. / You think I only think about you when we're both in the same room / You think I'm only here to witness the remains of love exhumed. / You think we're here to play a game of who loves more than whom.
Wtf this song has me in a chokehold because I am obsessed with her voice and how it’s nice and low and also the way she sings the very first “running away” part.
