I’ve been holding an awful sense of guilt for the love that fills me involuntarily, that overflows onto others. I feel the guilt in a way that says how dare I burden someone with the love of a flawed person - of someone with so much work to do. And the work, I have been convinced, is to detach myself from that love as though it serves no purpose. This new notion that such emotions are unhelpful, a distraction from the self. But no, no! It’s Wild Geese, it’s this Ask Polly. Loving, loving , loving - it does not mean you lack elsewhere in life!
