Kenny is used to staying over at Dawn's house. But whenever it rains, he is also used to hearing Dawn cry over her deceased father.

After rereading this, this is definitely in my top 5 favorite.
The words paint a very grim setting as we read about how Dawn lost her father at a young age and how emotionally damaging it was.
But all that is washed away and replaced so much sweetness as Kenny tries to cheers her up. Although it wasn’t really anything big, the simple genuine gesture is felt by both the reader and Dawn.
We top it all off with Kenny being flustered by Dawn after seeing her smile and uttering a compliment without meaning to. Sigh, I just love these scenarios ☻

FAKE DATING EXCEPT THE ONE WHO PROPOSED IT ACTUALLY JUST CHICKENED OUT AND MADE UP A WHOLE FAKE DATING SCENARIO:
It all started with that weird request of hers.
"Senpai. We need to date. Now."
The boy almost choked on his water at the command.
"Wh-what? Date? What for?"
"It's serious, you see... Sakura likes Nozaki, right? And Seo has that thing going on with Wakamatsu"
"Seo and Wakamatsu are dating?"
"You didn't realize?"
"I mean I knew there was something," because of the manga "but I didn't know they were officially together"
"well, they're not but they will! And when they do they won't spend time with me anymore! It's a crisis, Hori-senpai!"
"Calm down, you'll be fine. Both Nozaki and Wakamatsu are as dense as bricks so they won't be ditching you for their boyfriends anytime soon. And even if they weren't as dense, Sakura and Seo wouldn't do that to you anyway"
"But what if they dooo? I can't take the chances!"
"well you still have mikoshiba. Why dont you ask him anyway?"
"I can't ask him I already tried that!"
"you've dated mikoshiba before?"
"I really need you to do this for me senpai, just for two weeks, please?"
"wait- but you've dated mikoshiba before?"
"I might actually need 3 but we'll see when we get there. my family wants me to introduce them to someone to bring to this charity event but all of my princesses can't make the commitment, they already know mikoshiba, and Sakura and Seo would feel guilty going with me rather than their significant others!"
"okay, so mikoshiba has dated you before and met your parents before I have despite us knowing you for the same amount of time already"
"please senpai! be my fake date for a few weeks?"
"what am I not good enough to be your real date? how is mikoshiba able to be good enough? you know what, whatever. sure, i'll be your fake date for a few weeks"
"yes! thank you senpai!"

Strange as it may seem, number one on the list isfanfiction. I have this really cracktastic Free! fic I swore to never postuntil I graduated, and a slew of Gekkan Shoujo stuff that I put up to the samerestriction. Another thing is, well, cliche as it may sound, my dreams - I’vehad a childhood dream to work in this certain overseas country, and though Ihaven’t really had any clear timeline for how I’m gonna get there, it doesmotivate me to work harder at my course (since Accountancy happens to be one ofthe things that country is undeniably connected to). A third motivator…well,Hunter, again. I want him to have a better life than I have. Well, not that I’msaying my life rn isn’t good or wtv, but. I just want him to have more.
