Hi Alex, there is a question which bothers me for awhile, do you think it would be a good decision for One Direction to change their current band name. It could be a huge step for a rebrand (leaving the past behind, a good new start, maybe more opportunities etc.) but it also could be very risky given the fact that 1d is a multimillion brand. What do you think ? (an the others here on tumblr) Have a nice day ♥N (sorry for my English)

I hope you don't mind me publishing, but I would actually really like to hear other people's opinions on this.

I am conflicted, just like you! On the one hand, One Direction is pretty widely ridiculed, and it's considered embarrassing for an adult to like them. Given that, I think a band name change could be a really good idea. (And no, I have no ideas).

They would have to weigh the cost of the loss of the brand recognition against the potential benefit of having a new name not associated with their current brand.

As to what will happen...I really doubt that they will change the band name unless they had some reason to (like...somebody leaving, oh God don't kill me). My guess based on the aborted rebranding we saw around Fireproof (all those 'I'm not a One Direction fan, but...' tweets, some from people in the industry) is that they are going to keep the name and try to change the image associated with it.

[And your English is perfect! Even if it weren't, there is no need to apologise, I am so grateful that so many people take the time to learn English and the effort to communicate in it. I never, ever mind working through any miscommunications because of a language barrier. I'm the one who should be sorry, for being unilingual.]
