Thrifty Business
Many people may not understand the hipster heart when it comes to thrift store shopping, sure there is the character each individual piece has to offer or maybe it’s the story that sets our imaginations alight in a pair of vintage leather boots, but perhaps more often then not it’s about a bad-ass bargain, I mean who doesn’t love a good bargain? Whatever the reason may be, once a thrifty shopper, always a thrifty shopper.
One of the best kept secrets in Chiangmai; and much to my fancy indeed, is that you can find anything and everything when it comes to second-hand threads in these parts.
Plaid shirts, groovy denims; and I’m talking original Levis, skinnies, bell bottoms, oxfords, grandpa jerseys, grandma dresses and pretty much anything you can think up, you can find in a Chiangmai thrift store… It’s really impressive. Chiangmai has more thrift stores then rappers have diamonds on their grills. Word.
Old-school Converse, back when they were all still made from leather.
Wrangler and Levis denim jackets for guys.
Here’s what I took home:
Flannel Nicole Club shirt; flannel and plaid… Nuff said.
Boho almost- sheer beach caftan.
Polka dot crop.
All for a grand total of 160 Thai Baht (or less than 60 bucks)
Like Macklemore said;
"One man’s trash, that’s another man’s come-up Thank your granddad for donating that plaid button-up shirt 'Cause right now I'm up in her stuntin' I’m at the Goodwill, you can find me in the (Uptons) I’m not, I’m not stuck, I’m searchin’ in that section (Uptons) Your grammy, your aunty, your momma, your mammy I’ll take those flannel zebra jammies, second-hand, I rock that The built-in onesie with the socks on that I hit the party and they stop in that…” "Goodwill… poppin’ tags… yeah! I wear your granddad’s clothes I look incredible I’m in this big ass coat From that thrift shop down the road”
-A-Z Lyrics
