Philip Paul Bliss (Death)
On this day, 29 December 1876, Philip Paul Bliss entered glory through tragedy. He died aged 38 in the Ashtabula train disaster while attempting to save his wife. Bliss was a gifted American hymnwriter, evangelist, singer, and composer, known for “It Is Well With My Soul” (tune), “Hallelujah, What a Saviour!”, “Let the Lower Lights Be Burning”, and many others.
