The weather was exciting this week! We began the week playing in a snow storm, joyfully catching snowflakes on our tongues. It quickly warmed up and we explored the outer limits of our property while on hike. We found a fish slowly swimming in the creek. We also have a school resident trying to join our classroom. One of the farm turkeys visits us every day and listens to our lessons. Today it joined us while we watched tree sap drip into collection buckets that were set up by the AD students. In the classroom our science groups are performing experiments involving air.

Olive came home from school yesterday so excited to tell us about a project she created. She said she got the idea from the Montessori black strip and the second great story. She wanted to create a model of the different stages of the Earth’s creation. Today she presented her work to her class and then shared with us at home. I see such a big difference between her first year in Lowe El and now her second. She’s much more proactive and aware of her responsibilities at school and I see her embarking, for the first time, on major, large scale, solo projects. The school harvested the last of the vegetables for our all school event. We then had a delicious farm medley soup with donated hen of the woods!

On her first day of school, Olive had her first great lesson. This morning she excitedly told us all about it. I can tell her guide is a good story teller because Olive was so animated in her retelling of it. #montessoriathome #lowerelementary
