he doesn’t see it coming. ( how could he have? from beebee, of all people? she’d been there from the beginning. and now to the end, it seems. )
“ aah— ” poe can’t breathe, or at least feels like he can’t, not until he sucks in a heaving breath that just makes the pain flare out through his whole chest. it’s not the first time he’s been injured this bad, or felt pain this bad—he’s felt worse, even—but somehow this is worse. so much worse.
he stares across at the droid girl friend, hand moving to press tight over the deep ( too deep, he knows that, he needs bacta soon or else— ) wound automatically. the blood that leaks through the cracks between his fingers is hot, practically burning under his hand, and he wonders briefly how it can still be this warm when he feels so cold.
“ …what did they do to you? oh, fuck, bee, what did they do to you? ”

He never knew who his family was. He was sent to this orphanage right after birth. Straight from the hospital as he was abandoned by his parents. He never hoped to meet whoever they were. But he also wanted out of this hell hole. He hated this orphanage. He never felt at peace here. Except with he was with her.
The red head was dropped off the same day as he was. Both little lost lambs in a sea of children who fended for themselves. They sought shelter and comfort in each other. She soon became the family he never had. He would do everything he could to keep her at his side. So no matter how many instances they could have been adopted separately, they were a package deal despite the protests of the orphanage owners. Either that or they get kicked out of the system when they were of age.
“Hey--Don’t worry BB, I won’t let any of them take you way from me okay?”
