Any comment that starts “I don’t want to be rude BUT...” isn’t worth your time. Anyone who follows you on here and/or Twitter knows you are equally fair to Charity and Vanessa, whether that be praise or criticism. Just keep doing you, there are a lot of us who appreciate what you say and do!

In all honesty I’d never really examined how I react to things that happen on the show or to particular characters. I don’t feel like I’m unfair to Vanessa. However, while I was feeling introspective, I did come to the conclusion that I probably identify with Vanessa more than I identify with the other characters. So, if I am harsher on her than on other characters (which I’m not convinced of), then it’s possibly because I recognise her flaws in myself and am being self-critical. I had written that in one of my responses to the anon, but then decided their question did not warrant a response involving my own psyche. So you can have it instead 😉

I loved Vanity, they were groundbreaking. It is so sad to see them and their family erased. For the life of me I can’t see why? They were a soap super couple who generated a lot of on line interest and votes who were loved not only by LGBT+ but by a majority of the GA too. I’m so confused. Can you shed any light or are you as confused as me?

I think we all feel pretty much the same.

At the end of the day the people in charge of Emmerdale are the ones making the decisions, we can try and make sense of what happened but the truth is that we’ll never know why they chose to end Vanity’s story the way they did. I guess they decided to take Charity and Vanessa in different directions and Vanity wasn’t in their plans anymore.

Maybe they’ll revisit it down the line, maybe not. My reply isn’t very satisfying sorry 😅

I also relate to Vanessa more than Charity (even if Charity makes my heart pound��). I know the struggle Vanessa has gone through re her sexuality. I came out late (later than Vanessa) and experiences the fear and ultimately the joy of living my truth and finding the love of my life. Thank you for always responding to me, I’m so new to this fandom and to Tumblr that I always think people are going to ignore me!

I can’t think of a better character to identify with than Vanessa. I adore her. She has such a good heart. Don’t get me wrong, she makes mistakes but god she is brave and kind. Respect to you @thegirl20.

No kidding. Also identify with Vanessa more than Charity, personality wise. (Also short - shorter than Michelle by 2”).

As soap characters go, Vanessa’s pretty normal. Charity has had a lot to deal with in her life, and not many have gone through all the things she’s gone through, so it’s perhaps not surprising that Vanessa’s more relatable.
