Lightning Returns Headcanon | Spoilers under the cut
Where is Lightning geographically?
Although Light steps off the train into what is probably France, I do not believe that is where she resides. I feel as if she is visiting Serah in France to help with her wedding to Snow. Though her namesake would seem to indicate she is French, I believe she might have spent some time in Paris before Hope contacted her and Lightning left to live in the United Kingdom with him. If he is his older self, I would assume they lived romantically, but if not I would say she probably moved to be his primary caregiver.
What does she do?
Everything. She saved the world afterall, I dont think there is anything she cant do. What she would be happiest doing? I would still think it would be protection oriented. Maybe not in the action anymore, but a Detective or something like that. I also firmly believe she has a hobby of horseback riding because of her love of Odin. Kweh!
Who does she end up with?
I ship Lightning with MANY people. In the XIII verse I ship her with Older!Hope, Caius and Cid Raines romantically. I also ship her with Noctis (there is a possibility this could work ;)) and a few other characters from the Dissidia verse (Kain, WoL, Cloud and Squall to an extent) for the end of LR sake, I would say my Lightning OTP's are Hope and Noctis (but I would love a Caius or Cid Raines shippppp).
Who will he/she find first in the new world?
Serah. Duh.
How would he/she react to the new world?
A new journey, less pressure, she would finally get the chance to be a sister figure to Serah, help plan her wedding, and be a normal person herself. She would very much enjoy just living. Enjoying hobbies, learning how to trust people, and not acting like a robot.
His/her mental state post-game?
Content, finally happy. No longer consumed with guilt and self loathing, she healed and was able to begin anew, for almost another life. The whole XIII series was about rebirth in a way, and Light FINALLY got the life she yearned for.
