Waltz - YGC Exam Piece Grade 11 (Demo) by Don Nizam
Instrumental Instructor - Don Nizam
The solo piece "Waltz", composed by F. Carulli (1770 - 1841 - Italy),
is taken from Book 1 of Yamaha Guitar Course (YGC) textbook.
This piece is one of the free choice exam pieces for classical guitar grade 11 exam syllabus (beginners' level) under the Yamaha Grade Examination System, currently valid from 2015 and issued by authority of Yamaha Music Foundation.
Students can achieve three(3) levels of exam grades (grade 13, 12 & 11) within this book.
Tips for students and instructors:
1) Recommended playing techniques for right-hand fingers;
i) Use only "Al-Aire" (free stroke) technique throughout the piece.
ii) Use p-finger for lower part notes and alternate M with I-finger for upper part notes.
2) Using the right finger given from the book for the left-hand finger position will help students to execute the series of notes smoothly.
3) Take note that the lower part notes are the melody and the upper part notes are the accompaniment throughout the piece.
4) The third line of the piece, finger p, i, m, and a is required when playing arpeggios.
