Callum Wilson, bassist of The Snuts, joins me this week! They've just announced their second album, Burn the Empire, is dropping this September and I get to know a little bit more about the inspiration behind the record. We also chat about Cal's early influences, some wild gig stories and why One Direction fans are like no others.

"And Louis can party, like, he can proper, I’m not joking, like. See, before they go on, they’ll just be in the dressing room and they’ve got all these mad drinking games. So there’ll just be a queue of people just going in, smashing like 10 shots before they go on. Everybody absolutely wrecked. Then afterwards we kind of went back and partied with him at his hotel. And he’s just constant just like, shot, shot, shot, shot. But it was really nice actually to get to break it down with him because he’s kinda like a rockstar. You know you spend all that time in One Direction and it’s like a massive part of his life, but you can see that the direction he wants to go in is definitely more left field to that. Like he fucking sits in his house and just has a smoke and plays guitar and that's just like, he's just a normal guy. It was quite inspirational going out with him, because it shows you what crowds can be like, and it kinda shows you what you can have if you work hard enough.” - Callum Wilson

“Definitely. I think when it came to writing as well with One Direction, everybody’s always like, they’re in with writers, but I definitely think him and Harry [...] really kind of steered the direction of the songs I think, which is quite cool. You can definitely see as they come out the back end of their solo careers they're quite massive. The others are smashing it as well but I just feel like they definitely are the main heads of One Direction." - Callum Wilson

“Tour as a general has been bigger and better than I imagined or speculated. This venue does mean a lot to me. I’ve had a lot of special moments here. So, this is almost the epitome of the idea of the tour. And in general me career, you know, going really well at the moment. Better than maybe I imagined it, it would have done a couple of years ago. I know when I walk out tonight, that it’s not just, and it’s not, ironically, it’s not just the size. It is, there’s a feeling here and I’ll feel like a sense of accomplishment when I walk out tonight. I’ve done really special things here you know over the course of me career. So to be here again, but completely on me own for a sold out tour show. Yeah, it feels [?]”
