Regarding family, you are absolutely right. To quote a brilliant man: “Family don’t end with blood.” Family has to be what you make of it, not the people you were born related to. It’s the people who are there for you when others are not, who show up when others won’t, who will laugh with you, cry with you, and go along with your plans even if they know they won’t pan out, only to pick you up, dust you off, and say ‘I told you so’ when it’s all done. That’s you’re family. You owe no obligations to the people with whom you share blood, if they are not a positive resource in your life. I am so glad you’ve been able to create your own family! And I am honored to be counted in that circle ^_^
