I'm getting a good grade in human social interaction with someone I like. Something normal to want and possible to achieve in a way that doesn't make me seem like some kind of furry alien.

Is it weird to privately message someone you've only talked to a couple of times in generalized contexts to ask how they're doing. I don't see why it would be but I have no idea how it would look to someone who is regular about anything. I want to check in on him.
